Ma'am, Monistat gel is NOT a substitute for Smashbox! People say it 'has the same ingredients', but it doesn't!
These are the Smashbox ingredients- Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone, Trisiloxane, Silica, Dimethicone/ Vinyldimethicone Crosspolymer, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Extract, Propylene Glycol, Water (Aqua, Eau), Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Cola Acuminata Seed Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract
And these are the Monistat ingredients- Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica, Tocopheryl Acetate, Trisiloxane
They share some ingredients, but they are in different quantities and Smashbox has many more ingredients. Here is a comparison of the two- [link]
I don't know why on earth anyone would consider it an actual alternative.... Basically, it is like saying that since chlorine shares an ingredient with salt, it should work as a substitute. Please don't try putting chlorine in your food instead of salt and please do not use chaffing cream on your face!

Yeah! I can't help but think that part of the reason people rave about it is because they WANT it to work. It is cheap after all, although I know where I can get Smashbox primer for $8(yay department store outlets) as well so that doesn't matter to me much! Maybe it even works for some peopl but I've seen too many people get horrible breakouts from it! Since it isn't made for your face it can clog your pores really easily.

right?
that only thing too though is that they both are products that smooth out the skin. the only difference is that one is for a smooth canvas for makeup and the other is to eliminate any discomfort. both are effective in that way. i think it's those first 3 or 4 ingredients. but yeah i see what you mean.

also using vaseline and lipstick so close to your eye can also clog pores and cause infections and styes. if infections go untreated they may also cause blindness in some cases. hard candy and plenty of drugstore brands that will carry pink and blue mascara.
you can get kryolan here: [link] you just need a clean makeup brush and a few drops of water.

I have a question on the Ben Nye materials. How many uses does a single creme color container have? I'm planning on doing my first serious cosplay and I have no idea how many I might need to buy for a three day convention, and maybe a practice use or two to see how it works. They're fairly cheap so I'm not too worried on if I have to buy 2 or 3 of them but I'd just like to know. :33
