then how do you explain Kingdom Hearts with all the Final Fantasy elements and characters?

The one exception to the rule, I suppose. Besides, that's a bit different from what you're talking about, which is more of a deliberate and full crossover. That's not really Disney's thing; the only times I see them do something like that is when they actually own all the properties crossing over.

End point is that it's not likely, either way.
