An alien technology for generating a force field Produced in Ultrafractal using a 3D view of the Quaternionic Newton fractal for the cube roots of one with "solid" based on orbit trapping.
Awesome piece of work!! Just getting started with UF myself. This is exciting as I'm also working towards 3D stuff too with Bryce and DAZ|Studio3D. I didn't know this could be done with UF, or any fractal app for that matter. Very nice design, clean, focused, and the lighting gives it a 3D effect. Well done!
Thanks. There are 3d formulas in "sp.ufm", "reb.ufm" and my own "mmf.ufm". Currently Ron's formula in "reb.ufm" is the fastest but the "Solid3D" formulas in "mmf.ufm" give you more options including colouring the 3D fractal with any UF colouring rather than just using lighting.
Thanks , it was created with Ultrafractal [link] using a "Solid 3D" formula from the mmf.ufm formula collection (available from the Ultrafractal formula database [link]).
I agree Eduardo, reflections would look great - but there aren't any at all ! The colouring is just fBm, with phong/gourad/ambient lighting and shadows. I hope to maybe do a UF formula with reflections in future Thanks very much for taking time to comment - it's especially appreciated coming from a 3D designer as opposed to a fractal artist (no offense meant to fellow fractallers, it's just that it's nice for folks from elsewhere in the digital art world to appreciate what fractals can do).
I kinda like the limited colouring, I wanted to emphasize the form so didn't use much colour It's exactly the same fractal formula as the fractals that Terry posted, just a slightly different viewpoint and a different way of deciding when the fractal is "solid". Thanks for commenting once again.
Have you ever used "Xeno Dream."
[link] Or [link] Which is just excellent!.
These two really caught my eye: [link]

I would Love to see what you could do with UF and Xeno Dream.
I can only imagen it would beyond belife!.
But, how about a little more colour ?
Looks a little like one of the "cutoff method" images that Terry W. Gintz showed at the QuaSZ yahoo group.
