Does anybody think that Mass Effect could have done without the Reapers. I mean, we have the human/batarian tensions, the geth/quarian tensions, the genophage issue, Cerberus coup, the Collectors(who could have just been doing because they were weird), Exogeni's experiments, the Shadow Broker and many more. The Reaper threat could have just been her in the background. For example, you stopped Sovereign in ME1 and that delayed the Reapers for another 50 thousand years because... I don't know, Bioware could have found something. In a universe like Mass Effect, a big bad like the Reapers seem out of place and they weaken the narrative because they require a super weapon to beat them. That is my opinion anyway.
As for my ending, it stops right before the Star brat appears. Anderson and Shepard bleed out while looking outside where the Reapers suddenly becoming inactive and get blasted by thanix canons. Shepard thinks of Liara and their blue children that will never happen and the relays remain intact. She sacrificed her life to give a future to the galaxy and I'm okay with that. She died for a better tomorrow and became a legend in the next cycle. Down the line, some people like the Krogan made her a symbol of hope and triumph. That is my ending anyway.
