A long promised Wand-tutorial.
I'm REALLY sorry it has taken me so long, but here it is!
I hope you'll try it out, and make your own wands!

We (:iconmajann: & :iconsigrunelise:) used about one hour, making eight wands this evening, including the time the glue got cold, and the paint dried completely.

ENJOY - and please do share with me, if you make your own - I'd love to se your wands!

This tutorial is the best I've found on the internet. The directions are clear and easy to follow, the photos are great and the materials are inexpensive (a really big plus!). I've had so much fun making my own wands, and each one turned out better than I imagined. In fact, I've just spent my entire weekend making these for me and my siblings (I'm the oldest of six). It is now not unusual to walk down the hallway and have someone jump out at you shouting, "Expelliarmus!"

Thank you for taking the time to make and share this tutorial! It is perfect for any Harry Potter fan. I highly recommend it!

Amazing, talented, brilliant, and I'll tell you why:

The "Harry Potter" replicant place in Universal Orlando offers wands FOR SALE, starting at...get ready...$30. For a SINGLE WAND; as an added insult, there is a line to one of the stores that stretches for hours just to be "chosen" for a free one. ONLY ONE.

Here, I can make as many as I want for under $20 (as long as I dont run out of chopsticks, lol). Im impressed, and great job with the photo quality as well! Its really mind boggling what you can do with hot glue, isnt it?

This is freaking brilliant! I'm having a birthday party for Harry in July, and I wanted to do wands. I made some for another party years ago, but just used dowel rods. I planned to do that again, but was not looking forward to all the sanding involved. This is SO much cooler (and cheaper & faster!).

I'm having a 'wand choosing' ceremony at the party, and with these babies, I don't think anyone will walk away from that disappointed.

I made my first 2 today, they are awesome... as are YOU! Now I just need 12 more chopsticks!!

Thanks again!

I really love this tutoral. It's simple, to the point, and easy to follow. The pictures are great, and it's easy to see what's going on. My kids and I spent the afternoon making these and we had a lot of fun. We hit the Dollar Store for all of the supplies and I spent less than $3. I already had the acrylic paint, but if I had to buy it I could probably find a way to get it for another few bucks. $5 total for something that keeps my kids busy AND happy? Sold! Thank you so much and please keep up the good work.

First of all, you took GREAT pictures. I have a real hard time with photo tutorials because usually the artisan is great at making the product, but the pictures and guides for you to make your own are lacking in really showing you anything. I also really loved that you had eight different wand designs that you did yourself, for me that served as great inspiration as to what I'm going to do with my own wand! Love the simplicity of the project and how it's both low on cost and time, but has an EXCELLENT end result! Great job on both coming up with the craft and explaining it to us!

I absolutely love this tutorial and I cannot wait to try it. A tutorial with hundreds of steps and pieces loses my interest very quickly, but this is simple and elegant.
It's cheap to do with all kinds of outcomes to keep it interesting. The directions are clear and the photographs are great. The example wands you created are beautiful and a wonderful motivator.
This idea is very fresh and surprising to find here on Deviant Art. I'd love to see more work from you. I'm seriously just heading out to the Asian Market near here right now because I'm so excited to give this a try.
Keep up the awesome work and thank you for sharing this.

I hope you don't mind but where exactly do you get your chopsticks? The only ones I can really find are the flimsy disposable ones at Walmart...

I didn't do so well with the beads, but I had a blast with the hot glue. Turns out, the way I was making them, it required 1 mini glue stick per wand, roughly. And my small patio table has an extruded wire mesh that is just big enough to use as a drying rack! How convenient is that? I posted them here: snobahr.deviantart.com/art/The…

That is brilliant!! My son wants a wand so bad and I was wondering how I was going to make one (without a huge effort, that is) and this tutorial is perfect!! Thank you!!
