Was watching a thing about Delphi and the weird notion of a Religious City where otherwise antagonistic tribes would meet under truce to compete in games, seek oracular advice and generally shoot the breeze with one another. The notion seemed familiar somewhat and then I remembered this was precisely what Mecca was all about before Islam. The Kaaba used to be a small building that housed the various Gods of the local tribes. They would meet in Mecca, under truce, and generally (one supposes) do similar things to that of the Ancient Greeks at Delphi.
This got me thinking, what if Stonehenge was a Celtic Delphi? A similar kind of set-up, in which otherwise antagonistic tribes would meet under truce to discuss things and compete and seek religious advice?
It seems fairly reasonable. ^ ^
