Description
Oxley and Zacria as SQUASHY MOTHS!!
Ox and Zac are Sam’s characters, mothy 80s synth pop alien boys who are too cool and utterly adorb.
I tried to take some cool photos with filters over the lights so Ox had a pink light and Zac had a blue light but turns out coloured polypockets aren’t very good filters, so I just settled for yknow, conventional lighting. (Which I also struggle with.)
They are like plushies but with plastic hands and feet and heads. I sculpted the originals in fimo, made a mould in silicone and then cast in polyurethane resin, painted with acrylics and sealed with a matt varnish. The bodies are minky stuffed with a combination of steel shot and heavy fibre fill. The steel shot is at the ends of limbs so they flop aboot.
I think these guys have interfacing in their top wings but not the bottom (I was experimenting). They are airbrushed with jaquard silk dye using some stencils cut out of card and acetate. Ox’s wings were pretty straightforward but Zac’s caused me some concern, I tried to get as close to their sort-of canon design as possible
There will be five moth dolls up for sale in my Etsy tomorrow and I will also be opening custom moth dolls which have a super fun awesome game to go with them! The game is causing me a headache because my Flash skills are verrrrry limited, but I promise I'll get there eventually!
