oh
she was
blinded by the light
revved up like a deuce
another runner in the night
She got down, but she never got tired
She's gonna make it through the night

Another NaNoWriMo outtake - moments before the showdown.

Wanted to do a shot like that for some time. She's blinded by the light... running on an cocktail other than rum for once...

I like this. The transition of light.... Very cool....

She definitely wouldn't want to wake up any other way.
Magnus-Strindboem's avatar

haha... well she got herself really well soaked that night, so she would have that kind of hangover she needs to stir hell and damn the consequences...

To be fair, any person of right mind, like cartographers, might go insane being without lovely spirits to accompany them in long blue maroon. As a certain lighthouse keeper off coast of New England once said, "The only med'cine is drink. Keeps them them sailors happy, keeps 'em agreeable, keeps 'em calm, keeps 'em.... stupid."

Haha... part of her problem... she's really smart... smart enough to know when to get her head out of the way. The liver is not happy.

Such heavy weight, is the mind of a master strategist. Also, I don't know you got the reference from that quote.

Nice serie of pictures and this final one looks really good and the light is great. Thumbs Up

Thanks :) unfortunately, for every one I do, three more come to mind.

mekheke's avatar

Yeah... I know that too well too. :sigh:

Schönes Licht hier!

Und das bei dem Kater. Nicht zu vergessen den Rest der gleich kommt.

The light here is lovely!!

Magnus-Strindboem's avatar

;) I always do nice light for nasty scenes. The characters demand it!

caastel's avatar

indeed light is awesome :) its from HDRI only ?

Magnus-Strindboem's avatar

No, it is not . It's a combination of a subsurfacescatter cube and extremely bright iray sunlight ;)

caastel's avatar

ah ....i was just curious -cos i was trying to use HDRI light for interior with large window.... - effect was super giant grain ...

Magnus-Strindboem's avatar

As you can see there is some grain, but I did not denoise it on purpose, because at times the grain actually looks better. But yes, lighting like that can be extremely tricky. Worst case I would probably do the scene brighter than it is supposed to be and post work it. If you got whiteouts, you might need to do a 32bit canvas. ^^;

But honestly, those scenes simply take insane amounts of crunching. 4k dark scenes with atmosphere rarely go below 12 hours

caastel's avatar

12 hours ?? ???? wow .... well did you tried Octane plugin for DAZ ? its free - i was trying it cos people says its faster ...faster but grainy too ... but i have no big experiences with daz studio ...

Magnus-Strindboem's avatar

Yes, but at least when I (or rather my wife) tried octane, the bridge wasn't capable of transferring iray shaders... just the basic stuff like alpha, diffuse, gloss and the like. And given the myriads of materials DAZ stuffs into a picture , it wasn't an option. Octane is toted for it's surface manipulation interface, but obviously nobody really wants to work on hundreds or rather thousands of textures and settings in a mindmap treeview kind of thingy...

And 12 hours would be fast, I think my personal record was 32 hours, but that was on an old GTX960 - the picture never worked out, lol.

Actually it sounds worse than it is. I usually prepare stuff and then have it render overnight or when I am at work. So I don't mind. Also I have a second system available so I can work on two pictures at a pinch, and that's pretty much my limit and I'm the bottleneck. :D

mekheke's avatar

Only 32 hours! I think my record was more than 100 hours, if I count the little adjustments with the spot renders (around 90 without them). :D

Magnus-Strindboem's avatar

haha ok you win. I was fed up after 32 hours when I realized all the render time of the world wouldn't save that picture :D

If there is something like the perfect light, this image has captured it... :wow: This I can definitively see as a promotional picture on the DAZ-Homepage

Magnus-Strindboem's avatar

Haha... no, honestly, I think it's absolutely against their regulations, lol.
