'The Daughters of Chrysalis' is the name generally given to the collective offspring of Chrysalis, former Queen of the Changelings. Hatched and raised within the sulphuric bowls of their mother's volcanic lair, these royal changelings are Chrysalis' most loyal (to an extent) and elite minions, far more powerful and skilled than a common changeling drone or worker. They have been brought up with two clear objectives: serve their mother and assist her in reclaiming what is rightfully hers - the Hive throne.
To accomplish this herculean task, Chrysalis is now teaching her daughters every wicked, evil, monstrous thing she knows, moulding them into a small but efficient army of little terrors in her image. The results so far have been, well, mixed.
At best, Daughters are a regular occurring nuisance, or at worst, a budding menace to Equestria and the Changeling Hive. It’s thanks to them that the Equestrian age of criminal responsibility has been lowered.
The daughters ranked from oldest to youngest:
Age: 12 - 14
VA: Brynna Drummond
Inspiration: Starscream, Scar, Caligula
Bio: The eldest of child and the Big Three, Princess Imago is heir to Chrysalis' throne and de facto leader of the Daughters of Chrysalis. Emotionally volatile, self-entitled and conniving above all else, this horrendous little bully has the mother of all mommy issues.
Imago fills the role of a budding tyrant like a freshly crafted horseshoe. Sporting a porcupine mane and fur lined cape, she lords her assumed authority over her sisters at every possible opportunity, which has earned little but their scorn in turn. She regularly leads missions assigned to them by their mother, spending most of the time barking orders at her sisters from the sidelines. You’d be forgiven for thinking she was Queen already.
For all this grandiose sense of self-importance, Imago lacks the level of tactical skill and magical prowess that once made her mother a feared tyrant. Her belief in her inherent genetic superiority has given rise to an attitude that she doesn’t need to really try and earn anything. Compounded by how volatile, unstable and impulsive she is, the end result is repeat failure after failure. Unsurprisingly, she will never accept responsibility for a single one, not when she can blame everypony else, be they her enemies, her siblings or her mommy dearest.
A not-so spotless record aside however, let it never be said Imago hasn’t inherited Chrysalis’ spectacular talent for manipulation. She can lie, trick and cheat with the best of them, and if given the means (or at least learns to tame her ego), may prove a very dangerous threat indeed some day.
She takes her mother's toppled rule of the Hive extremely personally, viewing Thorax and the ponies of Equestria as having robbed her of her birth right. She’s resolutely determined to take it back, not for mother, not for her family, but for herself.
Imago has the most strained relationship with her mother out of all her siblings. As a lifelong eugenist, Chrysalis was expecting a little more from her firstborn and looks down on her, not so much with contempt, more bored disappointment. It is her duty to groom Imago so that one day she can lead the clan, but the child’s chronological inability to listen or learn from her failures regularly tests her own wafer-thin patience. The brat has even the gall to openly boast that Equestria would have fallen eons ago if she had been calling the shots!
It’s more than arguable that Imago’s arrogance stems from her deep-seated fear of not being able to successfully follow in her mother’s hoofsteps.
After megalomania, Imago is a passionate Hoofball fan, having first watched many a game play on her mother’s orb as a hatchling. She adores the sport so much that playing professionally is the only feasible alternative she would ever consider instead of a Changeling Queen. Alas, that dream is far from reality. That’s why her first order of business come the day she becomes Queen is to establish the changeling equivalent of the Equestrian Football League. And she would create her own team, a Super Bowl-winning team of which she would be owner, coach and quarterback! A realistic aspiration.
Age: 12 - 14
Inspiration: Soundwave, DJ PON-3
Bio: Hatched merely seconds after Imago, the second born of the broods is a changeling of few words. Phasmid is primarily Chrysalis’ spymaster, using her inherent skills and intellect to infiltrate numerous enemy territories and gather invaluable data on behalf of the clan, on allies and enemies alike. Most of the time, she is found skulking the halls of the volcano like a phantom, normally venturing off to gather or returning to process information and creeping her sister’s out.
Her secondary role within the Daughters and arguably just as important is Imago’s second-in-command, second of The Big Three. Her role in this capacity mostly consists of pretty much doing all the work on top of keeping Imago in check, reining in her volatile emotions and cleaning up her messes. It is thanks to Phasmid that even half of their missions can be classified as successful.
Phasmid is unquestionably the most loyal out of all of Chrysalis’ children. She will carry out her mother’s missions with ruthless efficiency, getting the job done at all costs but always being concise and pragmatic in doing so. It is Phasmid the younger Daughters will answer to if one of them “wishes to log a complaint”; they are contemptuous of Imago, they are terrified of Phasmid. Years of undying loyalty and competence have attained her a lofty, high position in the clan’s hierarchy, even more than her status as the second born would entitle her to.
It’s a worthy question why Chrysalis hasn’t just sidelined Imago and made Phasmid her heir. The most likely answer is that she recognizes her skills are best utilized as a behind-the-scenes operator, the changeling who gets things done, who keeps the show rolling. It’s not like Phasmid has made clear any ambitions. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Phasmid must her interests though, her siblings figure, and she does. She’s really into music, mostly EDM, electrohouse and electropop. During her off time, she’ll sit down in her chamber in a meditative position, don her headphones and listen to her CDs or radio for hours on end. If the situation were to present itself in the future, she’ll make for an extremely talented disc jockey.
Age: 12 - 14
VA: Ingrid Nilson
Inspiration: Shockwave, Rick Sanchez, Doctor Kabuto
Bio: Named for the two white dots marking her black carapace, Chrysalis’ third hatched is quickly shaping up to be one of the most dangerous, not just changelings, just creatures in living memory. For the bloodline from which she descends, that means something.
Young Domino showed signs of a prodigy from the early stages when she constructed her first little robot, designed specifically to tear off the heads of her sister’s dolls. Chrysalis knew she had to nurture this keen intellect already blooming in her daughter and fast, but not being of a scientific mind herself and having a growing brood to care for, she broke the number one rule of her self-imposed exile and made contact with an old ally: Dr Kabuto.
The infamous ‘mad scientist’ Dr Kabuto had gone into exile from the Hive right after the Chrysalis regime collapsed, otherwise he would certainly be put on trial for his file-cabinet of crimes against equinity. Kabuto had at first sworn to cut off all ties with his former queen, but neither could he let a mind with such promise potentially go to waste. He agreed with Chrysalis to routinely take little Domino away from the volcano to undertake her ‘education’, passing on as much of his vast, twisted mind as he could.
Domino’s sisters did not see her for long periods at a time growing up. Neither they or Chrysalis still fully know what went on whenever Kabuto took her away, what he was teaching and showing her. They probably don’t want to know, because whatever it was, it took its affect on the nymph.
She’s always been a creepy little freak, right from the very start, no question. No hatchling who performs vivisection on the entire local rat population is going to grow up a well-adjusted nymph. It was Kabuto who, by the time he disappeared off the grid for good, moulded her into Chrysalis’ “pet mad scientist” as she is known today.
Domino is truly a extraordinary young mind capable of crafting complex scientific inventions. She is also a reckless nihilist with zero regard for life. The entire universe is hers to bend for her benefit, because she is smart enough to know how and isn’t bound by society’s imposed restraints. We’re talking about someone who has jumped dimensions and timelines on a weekly basis, created and destroyed life in an afternoon, and for whom screwing with species’ genomes is a hobby.
As the third eldest child, she completes the dreaded Big Three, though she takes little interest in leadership. You will often find her in her small laboratory located deep within Mt Ignis, overlooking the orange glow of the magma. Here she keeps to herself, concocting whatever crime against equinity takes her fancy that week. Chrysalis has also tasked her with the creation of a gallery of inventions to be used in the clan’s cause of world domination. She simultaneously serves as the clan’s medic, an obvious choice knowledge given her extensive knowledge on multiple species’ bodies. Her siblings are still not too keen on her medical attention however; many of them fear just what she’ll do to them the moment she has them strapped to an operating table or under anaesthesia.
A changeling of such intelligence should be an invaluable asset to Chrysalis, but in the case of Domino, it’s a far less simple matter. Domino has so far served her mother loyally without much complaint (though she herself admits her inventions for her mother are her more half-assed work), but does loyalty truly mean to somepony for whom nothing really matters in the grand scheme of things? Domino has had little to say regarding world conquest, but it surely cannot rank high on her list of priorities. What’s to stop her when push comes to shove and she just jumps into a freshly torn hole to another dimension? Perhaps the one thing keeping her around at all is how her family are the only company she has in this world she can halfway tolerate and vice versa.
All Chrysalis knows is that she must always keep an eye on this one, or more practically, have Phasmid keep a tab on her. It makes for... interesting reading.
VA: Mae Whitman
Bio: One of the younger members of Chrysalis' broods, Phalanx is a talented flyer--able to fly rings around even the most skilled pegasus--but is a poor follower of her mother's cause. Deep down, she has some serious reservations about the whole "conquer the world" thing and harbours a secret desire to run away to Equestria and become a filmmaker--but fear of her mother's wrath is enough to cause her to bury these doubts and hide away her screenplays.
VA: Tara Strong
Inspiration: Punch/Counterpunch (loosely)
Bio: By all accounts, Mirage should be Chrysalis' most effective Daughter. As a shapeshifter, her impersonation skills far exceeds that of all other changelings. Within only a few minutes of observing a target, she is capable of perfectly mimicking them right down to the most minor of details, every little quirk and tic replicated flawlessly. Her disguises are so thorough and convincing that even close friends and relatives aren't able to tell the difference.
But therein lies problem: for Mirage's disguises are so perfect that they fool everyone...including herself. Mirage has a troubling tendency to lose herself in the role and forget that she's pretending, becoming convinced that she really is whoever she's impersonating at the time. This has led to many an operation falling apart due to Mirage going off-mission--or even worse, actively working against it until Chrysalis smacks her back to her senses.
But despite this, Chrysalis still sends Mirage out undercover time and time again, knowing full of what could (and likely will) happen. Some of her other Daughters think that Chrysalis must be incredibly desperate, but most suspect that their dear old mother is simply a very slow learner.

Name: Bullet Ant
VA: Jessica Dicicco
Inspiration: Blurr, Mowhawk (The Last Knight), Rodney Bitterman (Baby Blues), Louise Belcher (Bob’s Burgers)
Bio: Bullet Ant is a motor-mouthed, obnoxious little ball of terror who, whenever she isn’t causing trouble for Equestria, is the cause of nine out of ten of Chrysalis’ migraines. Born with an abnormally large, spiralled horn and reinforced by a helmet designed by Domino, Bullet’s role within the Daughters ranges anything from excavation to front line attack -- basically any situation where that drill-like spire of hers can be applied.
Back home, Bullet is the family’s resident smart-mouthed class clown who makes it her daily mission to drive her mother up the wall. Whether it’s her nonstop stupid questions or jokes, a day doesn’t go by where she does cause Chrysalis to flip out and chase Bullet around the volcano in a murderous rage. Most of her older siblings seem to tolerate her antics, but it’s the little ones who are her real audience; she especially never fails to earn a fit of hysterical laughter from Pupa, which is arguably why Chrysalis puts up with her as much as she does.
One thing you’d have to give Bullet is that she’s pretty resourceful. She’s proved more than once she can talk her way around near enough any situation, helped by how she's seemingly incapable of shutting up. The kid's also somehow built up a long list of connections; she always ‘knows somepony’ who can assist her or her siblings in whatever misadventures they get into.
If they weren't mortal enemies by their family links, Bullet likely would have been one of Flurry Heart's best friends. Even as things stand, these two bratty half-pints get along like a village on fire.
VA: Kath Soucie
Inspiration: Lucifer the Cat, Nagini
Bio: Pupa is not only the youngest of the Daughters (and the last, a now very hippo hipped Chrysalis is adamant), she is her mother's openly declared favourite, the most prized position in which any daughter could find herself. A bloated, indolent lump with chitin stretched tight like an overstuffed sausage, Pupa is a monstrously spoiled brat whom Chrysalis has dotted like an overly lavished pet since the day she split from her egg. And you can bet she will never, ever let you forget it. Nor any of her elder siblings for that matter.
It's unclear precisely why Chrysalis adores her above all her children. Alongside Phasmid, Chrysalis never seems to get so much as irritated with her, and Pupa clearly understands she can always run and hide her mother no matter what she does to incur her siblings' wrath. An outsider's perspective might apply Occam's razor and simply put it down to Pupa being the 'baby' of the family. That being said, the downright eerie similarities in appearance between mother and child, to the point where the latter can be called the spitting image of the former, lead to pretty obvious conclusions about Chrysalis' vanity. But maybe there is another reason nopony else has yet considered, indicating a much deeper, darker connection between the two...
With no clear role within the Daughters--not that Chrysalis would allow her precious hatchling be put in harm's way--Pupa spends most of her time by her mommy's side or being carried around in her forelegs. Wherever you find her, nine times out of ten she will stuffing her fat little face with whatever food is put within reaching distance of her stubby hooves. It's not a productive existence by any stretch of the imagination, but all her needs and desires are met. What more could she ask for?
Although Pupa is far from a fussy eater, she has recently been taking up more peculiar tastes in order to create a palette for her more befitting royalty. She enjoys dining on endangered animals specifically because she finds their rarity makes them all the more tastier. Her favourite meal though is something much more common: the juicy, succulent taste of horse flesh.
