After having done several self-portraits to explore my mental states, I was interested in exploring a bit further - thinking about anonymity, abstraction, gesture - pieces that were so obviously me, portraits of my experience, but that could, realistically, be portraits of anyone.
My professor encouraged me to sit down and write before and after working on drawings or paintings, to better nail down exactly what experience/memory/train of thoughts was in my head in that moment. This helped me to be able to narrow down what kinds of inner/emotional things I wanted to express. This led to a lot of ink drawings about very specific experiences, thoughts, and feelings.
This one is about dissociation.
