DFC 2017 Day 7: Lament of Venus
Beloved son, I have seen you weeping,
stricken with grief. You cannot hide your face
from your mother; even when I'm sleeping
I can feel you--your agony and pain
are also mine, regardless how you feign.
    Gentle mother, the son whom you have birthed
    cannot find you. I am forsaken by
    my father's hand, his treachery unearthed
    for all to see--should they so choose to see
    how, cruelly, he has severed you from me.

Beloved son, we never are apart.
No man nor god, nothing under heaven
no of the earth, could keep you from my heart.
Beloved son, on waking, thereupon
look to the sky; you'll see me with the dawn.

DFC 2017 Day 6: Hate the Sinner, Love the Sin
Religion is a plague; how it loves to belittle
those who are different. The perverted transmittal
of so-called "words of God"--to a hateful epistle
It only goes to show they really know so little.

DFC 2017 Day 5: How Great Thou Art
My father's hand could crush the hills to dust
and with one mighty sweep, he'd cleanse the earth
of any who would dare earn his disgust.
At once, he'd orchestrate a virgin birth
to bolster faith among his chosen few
while laughing at the misery of those
who never took a knee behind a pew.
To those who shower him with praise and prose,
my father is compassionate and kind.
Just grovel at his feet and lick his boots
to gain the favor towards which he's inclined
when not in his reprobate attributes.
Remember, if it's worship that you sing,
no soul is weaker than a tyrant king.

DFC 2017 Day 2: Lucifer in Love
My heart was forged from a newborn star;
my wings were spun of the dawn's first light
when the sun shed her first golden tear
and I became her foremost eremite.
One murmur in the pervasive dark
of night eternal before her birth;
suddenly she burst forth dancing stark
and naked as her flames consumed the earth.
My soul was fashioned to love elsewhere
but what eye--mortal or immortal--
turns away from grace beyond compare
in favor of that which has grown quite dull?

DFC 2017 Day 1: Thoughts While Falling
I cannot see my star;
my vision has grown dark
with solipsistic fare.
I cannot find my star.
And I cannot deduce
a purpose for my birth
aside from callous mirth
on your part.  Is it true?
Is this what I've come to--
no more than a monster
in your sight?  A sub-par
creature beneath your toes?
I weep these tears to know
I cannot see my star.
How I ministered to
everything you set forth!
The sum of all my worth
was entangled in you.
And you jeered, didn't you?
To see your brightest star
with such a cross to bear?
At length you beat my brow
until I bled, and now
my vision has grown dark.
I will not bleed for you.
My blood will feed the earth
before it stains your hearth,
I swear this to be true.
This feels like deja vu;
I did not start this war.
I am neither base nor
that immensely shallow
to watch ambitions grow
with solipsistic fare.
But now I feel the dew
at dawn with my rebirth.
Here I will make my berth
in defiance of you.

and chases off the dark

The Process of Scar Formation
The truth behind a scar
is the apotheosis of lack.
There is nothing left to copy
on account of not enough,
an empty essence personified
by unspeakable distance.
But out of pain comes creation,
the breath of something new
and undefined.
Something harder gives rise
to close the gaps.
I will repair,
but moreover
I will chrysalise
as I do.

DFC 2016 Day 31: My Soul is Cosmic Dust
My Soul is Cosmic Dust
Born of a solar gust
and carried past the stars
upon this earth to light;
to suffer for Her wars
but not to live in fright.
Fear not only kills the mind;
it creates a noumenon
where we forget to be kind
and compassion is foregone.
We allow ourselves to grow cold
in our abhorrence of the night,
but we are forced (when we withhold)
to hide in shame from the daylight.
We are a universe translated,
incarnate flesh from the stars withdrawn.
If energy is not created
or destroyed, then, truly, we live on.
Stars light, wars fright,
the mind a noumenon, to be kind is foregone.
Cold night, withhold the daylight.
Translated: from the stars withdrawn, created, we live on.

DFC 2016 Day 29: Esprit de Corps
Wistful, withdrawn wandering
in far-flung field and forest;
of all my pointless pondering,
self-pity was the poorest.
How dreary and depressing
to think such thoughts are freeing!
Such reclusive redressing
should not become one's being.
When rash heartache harasses
so to make life less blissful,
fine friendship far surpasses
wandering withdrawn, wistful.

DFC 2016 Day 26: The End of All Things
The day has set too early on the sea
and left us in unmitigated dark.
At last we are abandoned by the sun;
the stars align no more to their degree
as every bolide crashes to its mark,
reducing nameless worlds to ashen blight.
What sacrilegious beast has left its bite?
What wicked destiny has now unfurled?
Now who will speak for us that she is gone,
we twisted creatures born of sunset's light
forgotten by the world?

DFC 2016 Day 25: Hungry Ghosts
I waited for you in our secret place,
for certain to my soul you would appear
within that Stygian and soundless space
where fantasies are born and dreams made clear.
I promise you I waited all I could;
I waited for you in our secret place,
the place where you once told me that I should
contrive to meet you daily and apace.
The entrance, overgrown with Queen Anne's lace--
perhaps you missed it, in your bated breath?
I waited for you in our secret place,
and I was overtaken there by death.
My spirit shall inter this place with snow,
this mausoleum shrouded by my grace
and wonder if it breaks your heart to know
I waited for you in our secret place.

I struggled with this form, hence my delay in posting.

MagicalJoey is a fellow writer in need of some assistance.  Please consider checking out her GoFundMe, set up by kiwi-damnation; if you can't donate, a share to spread the word would be greatly appreciated. :heart:
So...this year has been really shit.  Between death and insanity, I'm ready to tell 2016 to not let the door hit it on the ass on its way out.  But...let's end on a high note.

kiwi-damnation has yet again done an amazing job of creating the December Form Challenge chart and (as always) it looks amazing.

So friends, poets, artists, I encourage anyone and everyone to give this thing a shot!  Every year has turned out some really incredible poetry from all participants, and I'm really looking forward to reading what poetic contributions turn up this year.

Hello, got your message in my inbox via gmail it was unrepyable, So I searched for your user name. This is my new DA. I also have other places on the web to submit art that deviant art does not like to host. I hope you did not mind me adding you to my dev-watch ... those were dark years, glad they are over so I can get on with my life, though its like starting from scratch again with getting exposure for my art. Now I mostly focus on oil paintings, still do 3D digital pieces, and also I do more digital painting with Manga Studio, as well as music, which I create and share on Newground/fur affinity and sound cloud. The 3D digital pieces I do are now reference which I create for oil paintings. The oils often turn out better.
