.:If It Aint Got That Swing:. by madmen .:If It Aint Got That Swing:. by madmen
I seriously love Art Deco something fierce.
Swing, pinstripes, trilby and fedora hats, suspenders, even a little Streamline Moderne in small doses. I'm determined to make Deco Punk as well known as Steam Punk. <3
:iconhandsomeonionplz: I gotta get some wing tip shoes sometime.

Taken and thrown together this morning.
Felt like making something jazzy.

:D Awesome, thanks!
Yeah, something about Deco Punk is just so charming. Glad to hear there's others out there trying the same. But heck, there wasn't even a post on Deco Punk at Wikipedia until I requested one. :T Hoping to spread the love.
Keep up your fantastic work! :D

I swear I though it said Carl Max instead of Cari Mix...

Never heard of Deco Punk, but for all it's awesomeness, Steampunk isn't as famous as it should be :(

Hehe, no worries. Everyone misreads it like that. :]

Ah, "Deco Punk" is pretty new on the scene. The biggest recent Deco Punk thing around would be Bioshock, but there's other stuff like the movie Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Technically movies like The Rocketeer and The Mask fit the bill even though they're from the 90's.

Deco Punk has a lot of the same feel as steampunk, but more influenced by the Swing/Jazz movement of the 30's-40's in America.

I agree, Steam Punk deserves more love for sure. But I really prefer Deco Punk swinger and flapper fashion over Victorian. <3 IT has a particular charm and flavor that's simply infatuating!

Sounds a lot like a subgenre of steampunk to me. Kinda like how dieselpunk has a different feel compared to pure steampunk, but is considered a subgenre.

Then again, there is no official rule for this classification as far as I know... Might be best to call them "elements/motifs" (like people usually do for noir works).

Sure, if you're a crazy person who makes deathrays. No reason you can't use Tesla power within a streamline housing. :B

Heck yeah. You should get the Swing Kids sound track. Really wicked tunes. Also, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is good if you like neo swing. There's also [link] which has a ton of older stuff that I usually rip mp3's from. (Hit of the week usually has some nice stuff.) Though, dismuke.org doesn't usually have fast beat kickin tunes, usually slower and jollier.

:iconallrightplz: HELL YEAH! Man, you got some good taste in music for sure, then.

Agreed, the quick beats of Swing are to die for. (And many people did literally die for the music back in World War II.) It's really something else. Too bad it isn't too popular these days. :[ I hate most modern/popular music. Doesn't have the same soul that Swing/Jazz did back in the day.
...sigh... :iconrejectedplz:

yeeeah, i love rock'n roll, swing, salsa and jazz :D pop music nowadays really sucks, it's all about sex and ego and hollywood love, wich sucks too.

But regarding these days music, i like Drum&Bass, videogame music, some rock and other stuff. =)
things like jazztronik, infected mushroom, real nice.

Hm... you might like Dynamo's Rhythm Aces in that case. They do a bunch of covers for famous songs (not quite "modern" but newer than real swing/jazz). They kind of mix it up though, its not typical swing. ~kique-ass introduced me to them years ago. Good stuff.

;D hehehe, videogame, eh? Give this a try: [link]

Oh, you can download them and just use something like winamp to play them. No need to register. LOL I have like 2 gigs of chiptines from that site. :] But indeed, it would be wicked awesome if it got ported to something like pandora.com (which, sadly, is only available in the United States due to music copyright laws. FOO!)
I think Last FM also has chiptunes, so you could give that a shot. I found an amazing artist by the name Random ( [link] ) there.

Ahaha, same here. It's 13 minuets past midnight right now. ZOMBIE MODE HELLYEAH.
