The Holiday Card Project returned in 2014, and once again resulted in a great success!  We received over 4,000 cards from over 2,000 deviants, which made for a lot of holiday joy being spread.

With the goal of bringing a bit of holiday cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the Holiday Card Project connected artists from around the world, applying their tremendous artistic abilities to designing and creating uplifting holiday cards — and the community came out at full strength to send a little cheer to those in need!

Cards poured in from around the world in all shapes, sizes, and appearance — spruced up store-bought cards, digitally made cards that were printed, and even hand-drawn/painted cards! We had everything from traditional winter scenes to holiday-themed cuttlefish, and they were all fantastic! If you’d like to see the various cards created for the project, take a moment to explore the #HolidayCardProject tag.

Once the cards were received and sorted, we reached out to hospitals in our community and abroad. The USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center welcomed cards from the project for the second year in a row. DeviantArt staff members were able to take a tour of the hospital and view some of the other fun projects they’ve hosted, including a gingerbread house contest. Due to rules involving patient privacy, we weren't able to hand out cards personally — however, the beautiful cards were left in the generous and capable hands of their hospital staff!

Shyree had the pleasure of delivering some of the cards to St. Francis Hospital on Christmas Eve. Since St. Francis is a charity-based Catholic hospital, having cards to hand out on Christmas meant a lot to them. They were incredibly touched by the art and the kindred holiday spirit that the DeviantArt community sent their way.

In addition to the cards we passed out in Los Angeles, we mailed cards to volunteers around the world who helped us spread the holiday joy around the globe. I’d like to give a big thank you to all of the volunteers who helped out this year, especially those who’ve helped out multiple times over the years. This is the 8th year we’ve held the project, and the people who step forward to distribute cards are some of the best people in the world. And, of course, the biggest thank you of all goes to you, the DeviantArt community! Without the beautiful and creative cards you sent in, this project never would have been possible.

Everyone who sent in a card has now been granted a free 1-month Premium Membership!  In the event you participated in the Project and haven’t received your Premium Membership, don’t fret! Just send me (madizzlee) a note with the following information:

    Bullet; Green Your name
Bullet; Red Approximately when your card was sent
Bullet; Green A one sentence description of your card
Bullet; Red Where you sent it from

Please note: If you already have an active Premium Membership, the 1-month Premium Membership has been added to that existing Premium Membership, and will take effect once your current one expires.

Once again, thank you to everyone for spreading the holiday cheer!

New here; but def no stranger to the site. I am excited about participating in the Holiday Card event this year. I live in Houston and we have one of the largest Medical Centers in the US...we could really use some cheerful cards!

I send about 60 or so cards from SF, CA that was a collaborative effort with a couple people that used their ideas and concepts. They were about the size of note cards, pencil drawn. A couple of those people didn't get the PMs while others did. . . If you need visuals representations of the cards, they are in my gallery, shittychan.deviantart.com/gall….

I made a few typos on the usernames:
Halowing, Mightyana190

Missing:
magicalnikolaj, threatningroar, underdog-girl, feathermen, victor-surge (Forgot to write their username)

~ Thanks.

I lack the artistic talent necessary to make a good picture, so my card sucked. :/

It was still fun to draw, though.

You're welcome!  I think I sent in only one, though. Maybe I accidentally put two in and thought I was putting in one.
