I Am the Storm

On My Drawing Style ... when I was young (6th - 8th grade) I loved drawing pictures of Birds and Trees And Animals and a curly cue pattern that resembled fire or a paisley pattern.  When I went to high school my interests turned to science and mathematics and I studied anatomy and biological systems in preparation for a degree in medicine.  In college I changed into an Engineer and Programmer and system designer.   20 years later I became a Gardener and my view of the world changed, organic systems and networks intertwined and symbiotic relationships ... it is at this point that I rediscovered my passion for drawing.  Starting out as mostly doodles at first and "stream of conscientiousness" renderings .. I would lay down the "bones" of a drawing in seconds and "Flesh" it out in minutes .. never a plan or preconceived idea in my head .. only later .. after .. would I make minor alterations and move toward a more recognizable form and decide on a title.   Abstract/Surreal/Fractal none of these categories really described my work, Topographic sometimes, an attempt to add Dimension and Movement with only Lines .. Images within Images and most drawings Rotatable for different perspectives .. (many times the presented/published orientation was not the orientation of creation).   Illusion became my friend and a kind of Pareidolia/Apophenia my stock and trade.

(all good art does this to some degree in my opinion).  In any case in the beginning free-form scribbling led to a more conscience type of directed scribbling.   Good Music was always a KEY  ingredient to the mix, usually instrumentals (Jazz, Fusion, New Age).  Flowers, Trees, Birds, Insects and the Female Form were always at the forefront of my sub-conscience mind as i watched my hand move and create without effort or input from my conscience mind (yes I was often High (marijuana is a great collaborator, and also enhances the viewing experience as well)   I hope this starts to answer your question .. as to where the inspiration comes from .. I defer to the cosmic mind or Akashic Field or God if you prefer
