A woman who was taking an art class at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art has accidentally fallen into a Picasso painting and damaged it.

The painting called The Actor sustained a vertical tear of about six inches (15cm) in the lower right-hand corner.

But the damage did not affect the "focal point of the composition" and should be repaired for an exhibition later this year, the museum said.

The work from the Rose period was painted in the winter of 1904-1905.

The repair should be completed in time for the Picasso in the Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition, which will feature some 250 works from the museum's collection and is due to open at the end of April.

The unusually large canvas, measuring 6ft by 4ft (1.8m by 1.2m) and which depicts an acrobat posed against an abstracted backdrop, was damaged on Friday.

Vote My Portfolio If You Want To....LOL *UPDATE*

Hey everyone, I never ask for anything but, if you are willing to help me out could you please drop by and vote for my portfolio on artistwanted.org here is the link www.artistswanted.org/Madd2daM…

***UPDATE*** Thanks to everyone who voted for my portfolio, due to several delays and extended deadlines and accusations of the contest being a scam I withdrew myself from the competition.  It's unfortunate because many people voted for my work and I thank you but, that site did not know how to run a contest properly and it calls everything in to question when things are not handled in a professional way, at least for me it did.  Thanks again!!

I have been on for 2 weeks and I have gotten 400 views. Is 400 good or bad for only 2 weeks?  I feel like it's good but, I still want more.  Is that being unappreciative or greedy or both?  Who knows.  I do appreciate the views don't get me wrong but, I feel like in some ways it's less than what I expected.

Yeah I had to rant a little bit but, I am moving on because, it is not worth my time, energy, or even worth my fingers moving on this keyboard to argue with someone.  Hope everyone else is enjoying my gallery and I will be posting more work soon.  Thanks again for stopping by and showing your support!
Well, I intended to put my work for critique to gain more views and someone decided to critique "Face To Face.  I think the critique was totally unfair, this person who calls himself a "semi-pro" had a few things to say, all which where negative, since he critiqued my work, I wanted to check out what he was doing as far as art work goes and his statement about being a semi-pro is right.  He does what many people out here, 1 character or 1 sketch, with no background.  What gets me is he said the picture was dark.  How does one person think it's to dark, while another thought it was so bright they thought I used Photoshop?  I don't know if he looked at it as just a thumbnail or what but, before he can critique my work should'nt he be on the same level as me?? I am not out here trying to learn how to draw.  I already know how.  I been doing this for years.  I think something must have been wrong with his screen, maybe it was too dark to see because, you did'nt bother going to full-size view.  I feel that if someone is going to critique someone else's work they should be on that person's level.  It bothers me because, like I said I did it because, I was getting no views, not for some semi-pro to give me unconstructuve and incorrect critism.  He said their was a eyeball in the woods....that is a kite.   He said the creature and the people, he could'nt tell if they where looking at each other.  I don't think he knows what he is talking about, or how to draw.  He needs to know how to look at an art piece to critique it properly.  WHEW!
I am glad to say that I found another person who was in a forum commenting on the exact subject of my previous entry.  I felt as if I was the only person noticing it, I am sure some people may not agree but, atleast I am not the only one who feels the same way.....the forum was even hard to find but, I am glad I did.
I was wondering if it was just me because, I have been on here almost 2 weeks and only a few page views and like 1 comment.  I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else.  I find it strange that I can't even find my artwork out here unless I type the title of my work but, when you got to the newest it's always the same artwork from the same already established artists.  I thought deviantart was more of an independent website that was here for more struggling or undiscovered artist not artist that already have a name for themselves.  If my work or other unknown artists work does not even get exposed on here then what's the point?
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has visited or will visit my gallery.  I enjoy sharing my work with you and I hope you enjoy viewing.
After being told to set up an account numerous times, and with my procrastination it took some time but, my account is finally set up and now that it is, I feel pretty excited about having it....I look forward to posting my artwork as well as observing others.
