A thin beam of sunlight shown through the narrow gap in the bedroom window, landing on Vesper’s sleeping face. The ebony scaled dragoness let out a groan as she was unwillingly dragged to consciousness. She opened her sapphire blue eyes and blinked a few times before glancing over at the window. Like all the windows in the building, this window was boarded up with two-by-fours, with just enough space between the boards so somebody could look outside. Vesper remained silent as she stared at the window, debating whether or not she should get up and tackle the day or go back to bed for a while longer. While she had things she needed to get done, she was still quite tired.
“I gotta get up, the chores won’t do themselves,” Vesper thought to herself with a resigned sigh. She carefully maneuvered herself on the bed so she could climb down the bunk bed without disturbing Warrior. She wasn’t sure if the Belgian Hare was still asleep, but she was going to be careful anyways just in case. Vesper carefully climbed down the bunk bed before stretching and rustling her scales a little bit. As she relaxed her muscles, she grabbed her glasses from the nearby end table and placed them onto her face. She then made her way across the dim bedroom to the small wooden dresser and began to rummage through it.
Vesper kept an ear out for any noises of them wondering around outside as she gathered her clothes for the day. Instead of the sounds of snarling, growling, and shambling, she was greeted with the normal sounds of forest life. “Maybe we won’t run into many of them today,” Vesper thought to herself as she grabbed the last article of clothing that she needed. She hefted her outfit under her arm, grabbed her handgun and survival axe, and headed to the bedroom door. A short walk down the equally short hallway had Vesper at the small bathroom, which she entered. Closing the door, she proceeded to get dressed into the short sleeved shirt and denim jeans that she had picked out.
Vesper strapped her weapons to her hips then left the bathroom. She made her way across the living room and entered the room that doubled as both the dining room and the kitchen. At this point, her throat was feeling quite dry, prompting Vesper to pour herself a glass of water from a gallon sized plastic bottle. She quickly downed the water before pouring herself some more and downed that as well. Sufficiently hydrated now, Vesper began to look out the windows in the dining room and living room. While she didn’t see any zombies, she was still on edge. There were portions of the yard that wasn’t covered by the windows. With a sigh to steady her nerves, Vesper unsheathed the axe and headed towards the front door.
