Iceberg Devourer

Yet another creature of the week! The topic this time was "Iceberg Devourer." This is a pretty old painting, one of the first digital works I ever did. Here's the concept: Two apprentice gods are given a world to collaborate on. One is a god of nature and ecosystems, the other is a god of weather and temperature. Rather than cooperating on their project, the two young gods disagree and fight. The weather god tries to cover the whole planet with glaciers to make life impossible, while the nature god creates this beast, the berghemoth to devour the glaciers and icebergs. The berghemoth's digestive system divides water into oxygen and hydrogen for energy, and also releases potent greenhouse gases as a waste product, therefore raising the planet's temperature and thwarting the weather god.
