Horse Armor Concept by M-Skirvin Horse Armor Concept by M-Skirvin
I love everything about drawing saddles, rigging, harnesses, rings, straps, reins, bridles, and so forth and so on. Armor is no exception. I especially love the challenge of designing armor for some fantasy creature or an animal that doesn't normally wear armor.

In this case, I was designing head armor for a standard horse that would transform the appearance of the horse into a dragon.

Fun stuff!

Wow, you really succeeded -- I thought it was a dragon wearing armour at first.

OMG this is awesome even in "just a" black and white. Those horns with the braid running though them just blow me away! This is similar to something like what I have in mind for a plush+leather dragon at some point, would you mind if I use this as a starting concept with full credit to you of course! I am just learning so it will most likely come out a lot different by the finish but it will be fun!

This is amazing picture and altough it's not an free lineart I'll still have to ask that can I use it? I would love use this picture in one of my rpg-characters, she's a horse and her rider is something like dragon fan and that's why her rider will force her to use different kind of armors and everything like that. :> offcourse I would give all the credits to you. :> and sorry my maybe bad english, I don't speak english very much so..

Finland! Yay Finland! We like Finland, yes we do! One of my favorite places in the US to visit (the Upper Peninsula of Michigan) is a hot bed of Finnish history, names, and food! :boogie: Finnish and Cornish miners worked there in the 1800's and to this day, the area still has a lot of the flavor through their descendants.

Not to mention that the Elvish language in JRR Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" books was based on the Finnish language! How cool is that??

Anyway, you can use the horse armor as long as I get credit, and please send me a link to it too. I'd like to see it!

This is a serious inquiry, That being said, I wish to sculpt your horse armor design to be placed on a resin model drafter. What would be your terms for allowing me to do so? Also have you designed more than just the Chaffron?

This is a serious inquiry. That said, I am making Model Horse Armor for fun out of micromaille and various metals. I was searching google for ideas and this picture came up, Dragons are also a hobby of mine, So naturally I had to look more closely at your sketch. Awesome detailing.
Now my Question, Would you be willing to let me attempt to make this Chaffron for a Draft Model? And if so, would you charge a fee or would finished pics of your armor design on a model horse and recognition as Designer suffice? I would request a finished design of the rest of the armor.
My email is Hawks82674@yahoo.com
I look forward to hearing from you.
thanks,
T. R.

I really like this armour. It's badass to the max. xD

How do you not smudge the graphite when drawing?? This looks so clean and smooth!

There are two things that I do.

First, I make use of sticky notes. They don't stick hard on paper and they can be moved around. I place them so that they cover the parts my hand needs to rest on. To avoid sticking any to the areas where there are pencil lines, I just stick one down in a white spot, and then stick the next one to the first one. Sometimes, I'll have several of them all stuck together creating a safe place to rest my hand so that I can get to a spot I need to work on.

The other thing I do is a bit of a cheat. I scan a drawing and then adjust the contrast to drop out the smudgy bits. Doesn't always work, but it does darken lines so that they are much easier to see as an online image.

Any fix in a pinch!

That's cool. xD I'd never thought about using stickies, but I should at least try it out once and see if it works for me! 8D

Eh!? Why have I never commented on this before now!? Alas, I fail at life. T.T :iconohdearplz:
But this is pwnsome. I don't know why, but whenever I look at it I always imagine it to be included In Dogs of War for some reason. I just imagine it to be the type of thing the horses would wear in an epic battle or something...
But that's just my mind running away from me. XD

*gasps* I wish you could find it too! I used to draw unicorns and dragons with full body armor way back in the day, so I love seeing that kind of stuff. You know, you've really made me want to pick up a pencil again, I may just have to dig out one of my many sketch books and see how much I've forgotten.

At the very least I can find my GOOD sketch books and upload some of my pics so everyone doesn't think all I can do are the craptastic few pieces I have up lol.

This the coolest thing I've seen in a long damn time. It's stunningly amazing.
I can see it in black leather and polished steel, with matching crest plates, saddle, breast coller, and fetlock to knee boots. All on a dark bey Arabian stallion as, bugling, he rears and strikes.
(I just gave myself the shivers.)
I can see the whole battle. I want to write it down. Maybe I will.
Thank you for posting this amazing, and inspiring piece of work.
