Gideon is well-meaning and generous, but he had a privileged life and his ignorance makes it difficult for him to really understand some hardships. He's kind, but can be awkward in his speech and mannerisms. Being around others he doesn't know can make him nervous, as he worries about being negatively judged. He doesn't want to be thought of as weird.  When he's with friends though, he's loud, excited, and passionate. He can easily forget to keep his voice down when in public, and will get very embarrassed if he unintentionally gets too loud and catches the attention of strangers around him.

He remembers his childhood and growing up with Clément, but his memory becomes more hazy as time went on and his mental well-being diminished.  He doesn't remember accidentally killing his closest friend, but he knows something terrible happened and that it was his fault. He doesn't know how or why he was transformed, but becoming an esk gave him a sense of relief and stillness of which he thinks he is undeserving.
