Bottom line - it isn't the zealots screaming their dissatisfaction with others who ruin things; it's the people who tell them they don't have any justification in their opinions because they're being so outspoken about them. It's art, not nuclear warfare, and while some would probably disagree, I don't think it's a matter of such terrible importance that the fractal community as a whole will have to decide on a preferred "style" and worship the artists most proficient at making grand julians in bold rainbow hues.
... oh dear. This ended up being quite a bit longer and more involved than I anticipated for a reply to a deviantART comment (of all things!). Blame 3 AM and coffee. ;D
