I'm not much of a writer, but I did want to express some of my thoughts on this:

FREE EGYPT Poster by luvataciousskull

The image above is the poster I created after hearing and seeing what was going on in Egypt. To some degree, the fact that I love my home country of America so much, and everything it stands for (Freedom, Democracy) made it more real for me. The fact that they had someone who ran their country in a "State of Emergency" for 30 years, rigged elections, stole from his people... it's essentially the American Nightmare.

On January 25th, 2011, the people of Egypt took to the streets to protest against a government that they felt was false. They demanded that their "president", elected in fraudulent elections for 30 years, leave office immediately so that they could have truly free elections and a government that they felt really reflected their concepts and values.

While many of us can't fight in the streets with them, I wanted to do something to show my solidarity with them and give myself and everyone else a chance to show their support as well.

I created this because, for me, the events in Egypt is the embodiment of what freedom truly means. It is simply inspiring to see the events in Egypt, and I am proud of the people of that country for protesting peacefully. They have taken to the streets, to their cellphones, and social networks to cry out, speak out, and cry out against the tyrants in their land!

They want democracy, TRUE democracy! They want the same rights and freedoms we take for granted daily, and for that I greatly support them!

About the Free Egypt! Merch I'm Selling

I wanted to put my image on Zazzle mainly to see if anyone would buy any of it. The fact that its done so well is AMAZING!

Largely because I don't feel right profiting off this, I'm donating half the money to Doctors Without Borders. They do some great work and I would love to help them out!

You can get merch here if you want to wear your support. But trust me, just donating to Doctors Without Borders alone would make me smile!
I'm selling a few prints of my tour posters on eBay right now, and the auctions end next Sunday, January 16th.

Each print is a measly $25, and each one is on 80lbs vellum paper stock and looks GREAT! Not only that, but you can also help out a worthy charity!

10% of all the profits will go to The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund! Yes, the CBLDF! The First Amendment Right group for Comic Book artists and cartoonists!

Up for auction are my Gig Posters for Obituary, Between the Buried and Me, Devin Townsend, Anvil, and Municipal Waste!

So go to eBay and BID BID BID!!!!…

After roughly 3 months worth of work, my new website is nearly done! The design is some of my most ambitious yet, and in terms of the CSS and XHTML coding... this is, easily, some of my best work. Throw in some awesome jQuery stuff, and this is going to be sweet!

There will also be a ton of work that you haven't seen yet, and an easier way to get in touch with me!

The new site is ready to go, and will be launched on 1/11/11.

Check out the countdown here:

As you may have seen in my last entry, someone stole my work.…

It has been removed, and I am VERY glad to see this!

The long and short of all of this? I LOVE it when people enjoy my work! I've had people make them into stickers, I've seen people use them on their profile pages... I'm always glad to see it, and that's why I put my art out there; so people can see it and ENJOY it!

When it comes to someone selling it, especially without my permission, then there's a problem.

So here's the lesson: Enjoy my stuff, but please be nice. :)

Back in 2007, I decided it would be cool to have a piece I had done earlier go out into the world and speak for people who were censored. The piece was called "Government Censorship: Protecting YOU From Reality". It was an obvious parody of the Parental Advisory sticker, and at first I wasn't happy with how it looked. It took a while for it to grow on me, and I decided to put it on my Zazzle account to try and sell a few posters, and an image of it was posted on my website.

After that, my image started to pop-up in a few places. I periodically would do searches and sometimes see it up. I would let the person using it know I was the person who originally posted it, and to please give me some attribution, and that was about it. Since it was going on so much, I decided to post it on my DeviantArt account and make it fairly clear what the rules on it were; you can use it as long as I got credit and you never, ever, tried to sell it.

You can see where I'm going with this.

So on December 2nd, I decided to just check how my stuff was doing on Zazzle. I did a search with the name of my image and noticed that my piece was showing up on something I didn't create. Shocked, I checked it out and, lo and behold, someone else was selling it!

Here's the image on my site:

The original image being used on Zazzle, complete with date of creation:

The piece uploaded on DeviantArt with the license:

And the offending person using my image on their products:
I was shocked and annoyed, and ready to just simply report them to  Zazzle to let them know what's going on. The person doing it is the  problem.

The company is "Sovereign Citizens, LLC", but treally its just some guy going by the name sovereigns on the site. The guy is fairly politically active, and if the term "Sovereign Citizen" is any indication, this is NOT the type of person I like using my image for their own ends, let alone making a profit off MY work! On top of that, the guy is a Bigot! Check out THIS on their own Blogger page!<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Verdana;font-size:10pt;"  >
Not only that, but this person is a PRO-SELLER on Zazzle! A Pro-Seller on Zazzle is someone who has consistently made $100 or more a month using Zazzle over 3 months, and its likely, even VERY likely, that this guy is making some serious money using my work without permission.,

I contacted the person with a Cease and Desist letter the same day. No response. I posted about this on the Zazzle forums, and the main point I heard is that the person doing it claims on their site that they're trying to use non-copyrighted pieces. Then today I found out that they stole someone else work!

The ripoff by Sovereigns:…

This person doesn't have any regard for my work or for anyone else who create art!

So, what can YOU do to help?

I've contacted Zazzle already and I'm doing what I can to handle it through them. Feel free to go through their products and post my original product link. Feel free to go to their Facebook page and tell them what you think PERSONALLY. Contact them on MySpace and tell them you're mad about this!

Or e-mail them directly at this address:

Thought I'd let everyone know that, yes, I DO COMMISSIONS!

Rules are pretty simple: For illustration I get 50% up front and the rest when I'm done. Anything design-related tends to be the same deal, but I have to handle that on a case-by-case basis. I don't do trades since I can't eat off it, but I do appreciate the sentiment. :)

That said, feel free to post a reply about what you may want, and if you're serious about hiring me to do something, drop me a line!

I've got some downtime and it would be fun to knock out a few pieces for folks!

WOW! Nearly 3 years on here, and I FINALLY write a journal entry!

Over the past three years, I've gotten a full-time job as an artist, a lot of commission work, and I've had a ton of fun! It's been interesting watching certain pieces get really big and famous (False Messiah [… comes to mind!), and a few that shocked me about the love and response to it: (…).

So thanks to everyone for all the favs over the past 6 months, and thanks to everyone who gave me LLAMA BADGES! WOOT! You folks kick ass!!!!!

Its been fun, and I can't wait to do more and get more involved! :D
