Long before his birth, the coming of Earendil has been foreseen by the Eldar. They knew that a great seafearer was to be born and his task was to make the one important voyage to the Ancient West to seek the aid of the Valar in the most desperate of times to safe his land from the wrath of Morgoth.

If captain logs and documentations of voyages exist in those times, I would like to think that this journal would have been the very journal that Earendil would have used to record his journeys and explorations.

This is a mixed media handbound journal. The artwork on the front cover combines acrylics, ink and spray paint, a variety of brass and copper components including vintage clock gears and a beautiful piece of striated denim jasper. The needle like feature resembling a compass needle is handformed brass wire augmented by fire and the arrowhead is painted epoxy clay. The page marker is made up of a brass chain and ends with a handformed elven motif. The artwork is then aged and distressed. The covers are finished with several coats of varnish to protect the artwork.

Beautifully done! I like the little details like the weathered effects on the cover and the elaborate designs in the corners. ^_^
Is there a proper term for those corner designs? In some pictures of antique books, I see metal versions of them on all four corners of the front cover (and maybe the back cover too), but they're not exactly corner protectors. It's a bit difficult to look up the term. ^^;

I simply call them book corners. Tho the ones I used were not for books but for jewelry making.
