At first, Isabelle loved her job. She got to help the town she grew up in thrive. But this all changed when the new mayor came. Several villagers quickly went missing, their property sold and put back onto the market. It was clear that this new mayor had some sort of scheme with that crook, Tom Nook, to flip houses on the market. But there was nobody to turn to. The mayor had slashed the town's security budget. There was nowhere to turn to, even Porter, the train conductor, seemed to be in league with the mayor. With no option of fleeing or receiving help, Isabelle slowly went insane. At first, it was small things, chewing on pens and biting her nails. Slowly her work began to reflect her ever growing fear. Streets remained filthy for weeks, sometimes months. Projects went unfunded for much longer than they should have. Eventually she snapped, barking mad and aimlessly wandering the town, snapping at anyone that came near. And yet, because this is a Nintendo game, she was never able to die and find peace.
