I logged in here the other day for the first time in a really looong time just to see what's new, and to try to upload a picture of my painting in progress (which attempt was unsuccessful, by the way). I haven't posted anything in well over a year, due to one thing after another stealing my creative mojo and so I was surprised when I had over 900 messages.  How could that possibly be? I had my answer when I started reading the notes of congratulation and the compliments on Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree.  I realized that back in December it was featured as a Daily Deviation! Balm to my Ego.

0 min read
I have to say that having someone come and ask if specific paintings are still available is a real ego-booster for an artist.  In the last two weeks I sold three paintings.  That helped immensely in getting over not wanting to be in my studio.  (It also helped pay the phone bill!) That did not make me feel a whole lot better about it at first.  Mainly because I lost money on it, but that's the way it goes sometimes, I guess.  I still have the gallery show at the end of this month to hopefully make up some of it. I am rethinking my painting a day idea.  I am definitely still going to be working every day, but I am not sure setting myself a requirement of finishing a painting everyday is beneficial to me.

My god you're an amazing painter!
Wow, thanks! I appreciate that a lot - I've not been painting for a while and I'm in the process of setting up my studio in my new apartment, so that is very motivating to hear!
I love all the colors in all your works.
beautiful <3
Thanks - I actually added you to my watch list earlier so I could come back and comment when I have more time - you have some really interesting stuff in your gallery.
no worries :)
you have a great style & use of color--keep on keepin' on!
