A sharp shriek rung through the forest, sending birds swiftly scattering. The loud beating of strong wings, rustling of fallen autumn leaves and loud cawing echoing for several moments to come. Then the muffled sound of footsteps rushing across the thick pine needle floor began... Or was it really? Sharp, heavy steps. The flapping of fabric. The low hum in the air, like a warning before a lightning strike, despite being so far from an open area or mountain. Then, before a conclusion was drawn, everything went silent. It had lasted for no more than a few heartbeats and was just as quickly as it had appeared replaced by an almost eerie silence.
