Don't know why, but I've always wanted to post that. Anywho… I just finished uploading a channel update video over on the Youtubes.
I'm pleased to announce that regular videos are returning next Friday (Feb. 6th), and will will mark the beginning of a new series of videos.
Click here to watch it: [link]
Thanks for the continued support!

Hey everyone!
As you might have noticed, I haven't been posting any new tutorials for the last couple weeks. I recently got a big promotion at my job, so I'm now an Associate Creative Director! So I'll be overseeing the quality control for all the artwork that comes out of our studios.
So why no new videos? As part of this promotion, I'm having to go to our other art studios and do some more training with our artists to have a better end product and streamline our production. I've been super busy lately coming up with the curriculum for that training, for the past couple weeks, and now the traveling part of it starts.
I didn't want to post up half-assed videos during this time, because I think you guys deserve better than that. And it just wouldn't feel right, on my end. I feel having this time away from the tutorials will give me a chance to look back and see what I've missed and what I still need to cover.
Right now, it's difficult to say when the tutorials will be back on schedule, but I'm shooting for mid to late October.
Please keep on posting your questions, comments and suggestions as I'll still be around to answer those for you. Thanks for understanding, and I'll see you soon!

-Nathan
Just wanted to let you all know that, due to family issues, I won't be able to post a new coloring tutorial today.
I'll try and get something up on Sunday, but no promises.
Thanks!
-Nathan
Thanks to everybody that contacted me for the flatter position.
I should be all set for now, but I'll keep everybody's contact info just in case.
And 10,000 views! Thanks for showing your support both here and over on the Youtubes as well.
It's much appreciated.

My buddy Quinton, over at QAMcomics.com, has asked me to color another of his projects. The art is a bit more detailed style than Template, that I had colored for him previously, so I'll need some help. I'm looking for a flatter to help speed up the coloring process.

The project is 55 pages, and will be published through QAM comics, who I've worked with before, and will be available through Comixology as well. Unfortunately, there is no front end pay, but I can get you a credit as color assistant.

I'm looking for one person that can do the whole job, to keep it simple. Must be dependable and do nice clean flats. If we work well together, this could lead to paying work in the future as well.

You can note me here on DeviantArt with links to your flat samples or portfolios.

Thanks!

Hope the holidays are treating everyone well so far.
Sorry for no new Youtube tutorials over the holiday break. My wife and I are working on some other projects at the moment. I'll make an announcement when that stuff is all set up and ready to go.
Thanks to all my watchers and subscribers both here and over on the Youtubes. We should have some exciting things in store for the new year!

If you haven't donated to the Template Kickstarter yet, today is the last day! Don't miss out on your chance to get all of year 1 collected in a handy-dandy trade paperback!
Get over there and donate now! www.kickstarter.com/projects/q…
If you're still undecided, check out the website and read the webcomic for free! www.qamcomics.com/template/
Thanks to all those that have already donated!

Thanks to those that came out and supported the Kickstarter campaign for the trade paperback of our Template webcomic!
If you haven't contributed yet, we still have 21 days left to get in on the action.
Still on the fence? Check out the book, for yourself: www.qamcomics.com/template/
Stretch goals are now posted up, so here's the link: www.kickstarter.com/projects/q…
Thanks again!

First off, thanks to those of you that had contributed to the Template Kickstarter. It didn't look like we were going to make our funding, so the campaign has been retooled.
Here is the link for the new campaign:
If you're on the fence about supporting this Kickstarter, you can head over to www.qamcomics.com/template/ and read the comic for free.
Can't donate?? Don't worry, you can still help us by spreading the word about the comic to your friends!

Second, the Youtube channel is growing. As of this writing, we're passed 175 subscribers. It may like seem like much compared to channels with videos of cute bunnies, but I'm thrilled that over 175 people want to take time out of their day to watch and listen to me color.
If you haven't seen it yet, here's the link: www.youtube.com/lummage

Lastly, I've quietly been adding some old color guides to my Etsy shop. These are done with marker on an 8.5" x 11" photocopy of the artwork. I'll be adding some more stuff over the weekend. If you're interested in anything, send me a note and let me know which page, and we might be able to work out a deal.
Here's the link to my shop: www.etsy.com/shop/lummage

I'm in talks for coloring a couple books, but nothing solid yet. As soon as things are confirmed, I'll be sure to let you know.
Thanks for all your support!

Yep. The day has finally arrived.
The Kickstarter campaign is to print up the first trade of Template, which will collect Issues One through Eight of our "Digital First" series in a 104 page, full color, trade paperback edition.

There are tons of great rewards. I would say one of my favorite is the Launch Day variant cover, which is a Kickstarter exclusive. "For the first day of the campaign only, we're offering an extremely rare inked variant version of the cover, signed by writer and creator Quinton Miles. This will ONLY be available for the campaign's first 24 hours, and will close at 9:00 AM ET on August 15." So make sure you grab one while you can!
Also on offer are a couple 1 on 1 coloring sessions with me. While I color up a commission or a cover for your comic project, we can chat it up about color theory, the industry, breaking into comics, or whatever. I have a bunch of wild stories about working in comics in the mid-nineties!

I talk a little more about it in my video while I'm coloring the Template TPB cover.

Thanks for watching and talk to you soon.

Wow.
I was trying to get something together to mark the occasion, but my average page views really jumped after I posted that Mr. Freeze piece. I want to thank all my watchers for watching and for the llamas I have been receiving (I still have no idea what those are for).

News.
-The web series Template should be coming to some digital comic platforms soon. More on that as it happens.

-Youtube channel is doing well. I'm still managing to get at least 1 video a week uploaded.
I'm currently working on tutorials for the most useful Photoshop shortcuts and a finished digital painting style over lineart.

-Lastly, I'm getting ready to finally open my Etsy shop back up. I'll be putting up a lot of my old color guides at really nice prices. I'll be sure to let you know when that starts happening.

That's it for now!
Thanks!!!

On Wednesday, April 3rd, Template finally launches! It's a webcomic that can be found at QAMcomics.com. It's a very professional looking project that I think will be a big hit. I've had a lot of fun working on the project so far, and can't wait to show off the pages I've been coloring. So please check it out and let's hear some feedback!

Also, I've been quietly posting more videos to my youtube channel, but not posting here about it. I don't want to spam the hell out of you guys and gals every time I post a new video. If you want to stay up to date, I suggest subscribing over on Youtube. I don't do facebook or Twitter, so that's really the only way, for now, to stay up to date.  www.youtube.com/lummage

That's all I have, that I can talk about, for now. Thanks for watching!

Managed to make a Tips and Tricks video for all you aspiring colorists. This one goes into using Hue, Saturation, and Value to show more depth in your work. You can check it out here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTnA_L…

Let me know what you think. Any subject or advice you would like to see me tackle?

Thanks for watching, as always!

So I've quietly uploaded the first episode of the Critiques and Paint Overs series, the other day. I critiqued a page I did over 9 years ago to help show as a proof of concept of what the series will be about. You can see it here:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXJmdj…
Hopefully, it's a bit easier to understand what I want this series to be about. I'm hoping to make this a weekly series, so I need your help with files to critique! Send me a message here or on Youtube to get your image on the show. People who's work I critique will get their website or contact info mentioned and linked to in the description as well, to help others see more of your work. What have you got to lose?

I know right?
Anywho... I just uploaded another video to Youtube. Nothing special, just me laying down some flats on a page for an Upcoming project called Template. Here's the www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HUWr0…
Template is an action thriller web series that launches on April 3rd. It's written by Quinton Miles and beautifully drawn by Andres Quezada. I'm having a lot of fun coloring the pages and hopefully that shows in the final product.
I was hoping to have a critique video up by now, but I got sick and still don't have my voice back. I'll let you know when I get that up. If you're interested, I'm still looking for more people that want an honest and professional critique on their color work. And I'll do a paint over as well to illustrate what I'm talking about. Send me a message here or on Youtube!
As always thanks a lot for following my work. It means a lot to me.

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. Things have gotten busy and I haven't had a lot of time to really color anything for myself. I have a couple projects in the works right now, but unfortunately, I can't reveal any details at the moment.

One thing I can mention is that after having signed up for a Youtube account over 6 years ago, I finally uploaded my first video! And it's a little teaser for one of the projects I'm working on. Here's the www.youtube.com/watch?v=yG_oeH…

I want to use my channel as a resource for experienced colorists looking to take their work to the next level, but beginners can also learn new tips and tricks as well. I plan on doing more walkthrough videos and some coloring critiques as well. So if you would like a critique and paint over of one of your colored pieces, feel free to message me here or on Youtube and we'll make it happen!

Thanks for watching!

I'm having a lot of fun coloring comic stuff again and it means a lot that you guys like to see me do it. Over the new year, i have some fun projects coming out and hope to finally put some tutorials together as well.

Just wanted to let you folks know that I'll be at NYCC with Hype Comics, booth 945, where we'll be zombifying people. Stop by the booth and we'll take your photo against a green screen, turn you into a zombie with the magic of Photoshop, and throw you on a new dramatic background. On top of all that, we'll even print it out for you there at the booth. I'm not sure what the prices are at this point, but they will be affordable. Stop by and say hello!
