Description
Erik the Swift, Baelog the Fierce & Olaf the Stout from The Lost Vikings.
Part 15/24 of my Amiga tribute project >3
This time it's a game that some of you might recognize, behold The Lost Vikings
First thing you might wanna note, this title was made by the well known and renowned company called Silicon & Synapse. What? Never heard of them? Oh, did I perhaps mention they're known as Blizzard Entertainment nowdays? >D
Anyways, the game itself was a pretty well known title, because of it's simultaneous release on the majority of available systems, like SNES, Genesis, PC and of course, Amiga. Hell, it even had a remake for GBA |D but of course, it's not only that that made it stand out so much, since it would be long forgotten if it wasn't so great >D
But lets start from the beginning, for those who don't know, Lost Vikings is a puzzle-platformer about the 3 titluar vikings, Erik the Swift (right), Baelog the Fierce (middle) and Olaf the Stout (left), whom got abducted by aliens and are trying to break free and get back home. To achieve this, they must make use of their unique abilities to pass through all the increasingly hard levels. Erik can run the fastest, he can also jump and break certain walls when he rams into them (and it maybe just me, but he always reminded me of Sonic when he built enough speed and started running extra fast XD), Olaf has an impregnable shield that stops enemies and projectiles, and can be also used as a parachute and a platform for Erik to help him reach higher places, and finally Baelog who brought his trusty sword and bow along, and can kill enemies with 'em.
So yeah, to clear all the levels, you'll need to master the use of these abilities as many later levels require precise timing.
So yeah, this is one of the titles from my project, that you can actually check out yourselves more easily, be it the PC version or one of the various others, as surprisingly, the versions don't really seem to differ (as opposed to many Amiga games being completely butchered when ported, or games butchered when ported to Amiga).
The game also features a sequel known by many names, like The Lost Vikings 2, Norse By Norsewest: Return of the Lost Vikings or Lost Vikings 2: Norse by Norsewest (yet this is still the same game |D), which you might also consider playing if you like good puzzle-platformers.
Also, as a fun fact, Lost Vikings 2 is the last Blizzard game to date to not be part of their 3 flagship series, Diablo, Warcraft & Starcraft.
And as another fun fact, the characters from Lost Vikings actually make some cameos in these other games (apart of other references to this series in other games), most notably in some quests in World of Warcraft - upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…
Other parts of the project - Shadow Of The Beast, Shadow Fighter, Zool, The Chaos Engine, Superfrog, Skeleton Krew, The Speris Legacy, Flashback, Agony, Brutal: Paws of Fury, Fightin' Spirit, Ruff 'N' Tumble, SwitchBlade, Lionheart, The Lost Vikings, Brian The Lion, Wolfchild, Gods, Entity, Franko: The Crazy Revenge, Hired Guns, Turrican, The Killing Game Show, Yo! Joe!

I loved playing this game as a kid.
