Gilles Villeneuve, Ferrari 312T5, 1980

This drawing was started in 2002 and has stayed at a line drawing stage for the last 10 years. I've just spent the last couple of months trying to complete it...

It is supposed to depict Gilles Villeneuve in his Ferrari 312T5 during the 1980 Formula 1 season. Gilles (uncle to Jacques, the 1997(?) F1 World Champion, I understand), has been described as being one of the most gifted racing drivers of all time and could do things with the car that his peers couldn't manage. Which was fortunate, as the T5 is not described as being one of the greatest race cars ever! Sadly, Gilles was killed in an accident at Zolder in 1982.

Rotring 0.35 + 0.5 pencils, HB - B2, Canson paper.

I apologise for the poor quality scan, but if you can make out the drawing I would be grateful for your comments.

One day I'll learn how to get pencil drawings online! (it does look a bit better in the flesh) Plus, that front wheel is horrible. Oh well...Next!

Thank you very much for the kind words guys!
