My Bio
Hello there, I'm Sophie Galinier a french illustrator.
I choose the artist name of Lucy Dreams in 1992 because I'm always dreaming and overthinking.
I also signed some illustrations under the name Gally from 1997 to 1998 on some RPG part.
Then I took over the name Lucy Dreams in 1998 for some voluntary work in the fanzine, fanart and RPG field.
After this timid attempt and a very bad experience of publishing, I turned to the purely theoretical aspect of Art and stopped working on my drawing for almost 15 years.
While I was doing a Thesis in Art History on the golden age of the illustrated book I was forced to stop research and teaching to earn a living for several years as a natural health practitioner.
In March 2019, I stopped practicing as a therapist and seriously grasped the nettle to finally become an official freelance illustrator.

How are you all?
Is there heatwaves were you live?
We're having one in France, and unfortunately it isn't the first this year because it all started in May.
Because I can't stand the heat I'm waiting for autumn to come and really need to keep cool and fresh as much as I can.
This illustration was born out of thoughts combining heatwave, anxiety about the current international context and Buddhist philosophy.
I felt the urge of keeping safe in my bubble of freshness.
As usual I explained all my process and inspiration on my Patreon page to which you can subscribe starting 1€/month.
However, I should let you know that I'm planning to take a summer break this year and my patrons won't be charged in August : subscription will resume on 1 September 2022.
I really could use a nice vacation but between lack of money and heat... I think I'll rather stay at home and enjoy doing nothing, reading, seeing people I love, napping, watching old B&W movies and

Changing habits and comfort zone
Lately, I felt like changing my creative habits a bit and I tried to renew myself but unfortunately, the result went wrong...^^;
Initially, I was looking for an idea for the exclusive monthly illustration for my Patreon subscribers.
I had started sketching a witch jumping over a bonfire.
But the more I looked at it, the more I thought: "Another witch? I ‘d have to change a bit !"
So I went to bed, thinking that I should change the type of characters I draw too: after a while, it's as if I only know how to draw attractive young fit Caucasian women. Real Barbie dolls!
I’m serious : just look at these two artworks, The Nordic goddess Freyja and the Celtic one, Brighid.
I mean, come on, change a little!

Hello, hello, dear Deviants!
How have you been?
I'm so so sorry it took me so long to submit the Patreon May exclusive artwork!
It has been made a while ago but I had so many works in progress on the grindstone that I had no time to update DeviantArt or my blog to talk about it.
Anyway, I'm here now to show it and tell you about the idea behind this illustration.
Were my idea comes from
At first, I wanted something that expressed the Spring spirit and, for me, as a french girl, Spring is about greens and pinks.
We have windy days, rains, trees are becoming greener and greener, some have blossoms (like cherry trees) and (unlike in japan of course) cherry blossoms are flying in the wind.
In addition to that, Peonies and roses are blooming and sometimes when the wind goes crazy, their petals go for a ride with cherry blossoms, surfing on the swirling wind.
That's why we have an old french popular song that says :
