You got me, I'm a bit ole' rip off artist. Thanks for letting me know by the way, I had no idea anything I did was like anything any one else did.
And also, Sylvia Ji is not original in that. She and I both are ripping off Alphonse Mucha with the flat toned hair/flowers, and the entire country of Mexico.
Yeah, I get what you're saying, I've been around the art block a few times myself. What I don't get, is why you would make that comment, did you think I'd deny that other people have similar styles? Did you think I'd have a problem with being one of thousands of members of a current art trend? I'm well aware that I didn't pull this out of my butt.
Yes, it is a pretty nice Sylvia Ji rip off, I'm pretty proud of my skills. Better than a lot of people who do the sugar skulls on ladies with long dark hair, so I'll take that as a compliment. My Sylvia Ji rip off could certainly be worse.
In fact, I think I improved on (what is to me) some of the less interesting Calavera art out there. And I could take or leave Sylvia Ji. Her women aren't delicate enough for me, but she is a talented artist, and surely a better artist than I. Now Audrey Kawasaki, that's who I like to rip off.
And my friend Adam, that's who I was ripping off when I drew this one, I actually hadn't heard of Sylvia Ji till I was searching the internet for sugar skull ideas and found her, but I had seen his drawings and thought they were amazing.
