Before I explain the deal is with this picture, I will give an update on my progress in my planned unofficial Spider-Verse sequel.

I have finished reading Spider-Verse a while back (not just the original series, but also the 2015 Secret Wars tie-in and the Web Warriors series). Presently, the only obstacle from getting started, other than the other comic ideas I have planned and the requests I often am asked to do by fans of my artwork, is that I am not finished with Spider-Man: The Animated Series, as he is one of the versions of Spidey my comic intends to focus on.

To whet the appetites of everyone who gives a damn about this ambitious project of mine, I will give a listing of every incarnation of the web-slinger I plan to use in this unofficial Spider-Verse sequel. Be wary that some details are subject to change once I get around to starting the comic.

1. Spider-Man: The Animated Series- As I already said, he's one version of Spider-Man I plan to use in the story. His part will begin with fighting a new version of the Insidious Six (now called the Sinister Six as they were in the comics) consisting of Doctor Octopus, the Vulture, the Shocker, Molten Man, Sandman, and Electro. The Electro introduced here will be Max Dillon and a separate character from the Red Skull's son, plus he, Flint Marko, and Mark Raxton will be ordinary criminals whom Octavius picked up off the street and gave super powers by experimenting on them.

2. The Spectacular Spider-Man- He's another version of the wall-crawler I like and is mainly going to be involved to see if I can come up with a satisfactory wrap-up for this show that was unfortunately cut short by Disney's acquisition of Marvel Comics and Sony deciding that relinquishing Spidey's television cartoon rights was preferable to losing his movie rights.

3. Spider-Man Unlimited- As with The Spectacular Spider-Man, this version of Spidey will mainly be along for the ride so that his storyline will get a proper conclusion. John Jameson will gain better control over his Man-Wolf form and will finally return to Earth with Spider-Man, plus we'll see Carnage, Venom, and the High Evolutionary meet their defeat. Assisting this version of Spider-Man will be a heroic equivalent of the Sinister Six consisting of the Counter-Earth incarnations of the Green Goblin, Electro, the Rhino, the Vulture, the Lizard, and the Hunter. I know not everyone cares for Unlimited, but it was an okay Spider-Man cartoon in my book.

4. Spider-Man: The New Animated Series- Similar to Spider-Man Unlimited, this version of Peter Parker will be featured in the story because it's another Spider-Man continuity I feel doesn't get enough love that also had the misfortune of being cancelled on a cliffhanger. This version of Spider-Man will be persuaded by the other Spiders to put on his red and blue spandex-er, I mean, costume and get back to fighting criminals.

5. Spider-Girl- I really liked reading the adventures of Spider-Man's teenage daughter. My interpretation of her will hail from a reality where her father still lives.

6. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends- I promise that Spidey, Iceman, and Firestar will survive my version of Spider-Verse. Their part will begin with curing the Lizard and reuniting him with his wife and son.

7. Adult Spidey-Baby- Spidey-Baby originated from Marvel's What If, which dealt with Marvel Comics tales that were out of continuity, many of which were quite humorous. The idea of Spider-Man having a mutant spider son appealed to me a lot, so I thought it'd be interesting to explore Spidey-Baby's adult life.

8. Honorable Mentions- This is where I list off Spiders that I don't really have anything big planned and at most will just make a brief cameo. Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, Super Hero Squad, Marvel's Spider-Man, Hostess ads Spider-Man, Lego video games, Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Punk. A special note is I've considered throwing in an interpretation of Superior Spider-Man who hails from a dimension where a lot of Marvel heroes have swapped brains with their nemeses (e.g., Wolverine with Sabretooth's brain, Captain America with the Red Skull's brain)

This is still a work in progress, so I might change my mind on a few things.

Now I shall explain the Secret Wars picture and what that entails.

Even to this day, it is my opinion that Spider-Man: The Animated Series is an example of something good that could have been better. Don't get me wrong, I loved this cartoon as a kid and I still enjoy the series as an adult, but there were a lot of changes the show had to endure whether because of executive meddling or legal conflicts, and the show's adaptation of Secret Wars is one example where I wish they had followed the original draft.

I have yet to see it (as of this writing, I'm still not finished with season one yet), but the premise already interests me, since it has Spider-Man work with the Fantastic Four, Storm of the X-Men, Iron Man, and Captain America to fight Doctor Octopus, Doctor Doom, Alistair Smythe, the Red Skull, and the Lizard. I've read that they even got Blade involved in the conflict at one point.

The thing is that in earlier drafts of this three-parter, they intended to have the rest of the X-Men and the Hulk appear, with Magneto and/or Mr. Sinister being among the villains. I understand that they most likely removed the X-Men from the final draft because it proved to be expensive to hire the 1992 X-Men cartoon's Canadian cast to reprise their roles for "The Mutant Agenda" and "Mutants' Revenge", and I know that the Hulk wasn't allowed to appear because of his own show airing on UPN rather than Fox, but I still think that the story might have been much cooler if they were able to use them somehow.

It remains to be seen if I'll go through with it, but once I finish the Spider-Verse project, I feel tempted to do a comic that serves as a revision of Spider-Man: The Animated Series' Secret Wars adaptation, the main changes being that there are some more characters included. Other than Storm, the other X-Men that will be involved will be Professor X, Wolverine, Jean Grey, and Cyclops, plus the Hulk will appear alongside She-Hulk, since both cousins were in the original comic Secret Wars from 1984.

The Leader, Mr. Sinister, and Magneto are being considered to be added to the side of the villains, because just five bad guys doesn't look perilous enough.

This idea is still in the embryonic stage, and it's possible I might abandon it once I've actually seen the Secret Wars episodes for myself.

Suggestions and input are strongly encouraged.
