This group focuses to create a centralized location on dA of quality low-spec realtime 3D work that is comparable to what you may expect to see on a handheld platform or older generation hardware. Contrary to where much of the game industry is headed, with emphasis on advanced effects, more triangles, and higher resolution maps; we enjoy using fewer triangles and smaller maps very efficiently.

If you like really smooth things, you've probably come to the wrong place.

Please note, this group is not solely about triangle count; it is about triangle count in conjunction with the scale and complexity of the object. Please look in the gallery to understand what we are about. We have entire vehicles, characters, and buildings that are around 500 triangles and under: the "low" in this group's name cannot be emphasized enough.

Please look at Game-Art for higher-spec game art, and feel free to chat in :#GameArt:!

:bulletred: No pixel shaders (i.e. spec or normal)

:bulletyellow: 256^2 maps are a good 'maximum' to follow, but it is okay to exceed this if you feel it's worth it. Rectangular maps are fine and encouraged.
:bulletyellow: Bake your shadows if you can be bothered
:bulletyellow: Textures are a must, unless vertex coloring is a deliberate style
:bulletyellow: Please avoid submitting works-in-progress unless they are significantly developed enough to hold up as they are

:star: Fan art models are allowed
:star: Baked vertex coloring/blending is allowed
:star: Double-sided faces are allowed
:star: Alpha blending (multi-bit) is allowed
:star-half: Dynamic vertex lighting is discouraged but allowed (often just makes things look a bit messy at such low tri counts, though)

:groups: JOINING :groups:

If your work was requested into the gallery and you are not yet a member (and would like to be), just drop a note and you'll get an invite. Joining isn't required to have your work in the gallery in this case, it's purely a matter of your preference.

This is an intentionally smaller, quality-controlled group, seeking to highlight works that display a thorough understanding of how to get the most detail out of the fewest triangles.

Browsing the gallery would be the best way to understand what this means. If you feel you understand what the group is about, and feel your work is up to the standards set, please feel free to -send a note- requesting to join. If your gallery indeed does reflect your understanding, you'll be invited! If not, nothing will happen. Please don't take it too personally if you don't see an invite within a week or two after your note, judging is a subjective thing and by no means does it mean your work is bad (there have been join requests from 3D artists who are quite good at game work, but just hadn't shown knowledge of the specific type this group is about).

Please have low poly examples (low poly as in relevant-to-this-group-low, as in very low poly) already in your gallery

See Game-Art for higher-spec and 2D/concepts game work.
