"We all make mistakes, right?" he asked her. She didn't answer, but he didn't truly expect her to. "We're only human, after all." He walked over to her and stroked her cheek. A stream of tears ran from her eyes down the side of her face, until they were caught by the cloth gag he had tied around her mouth.
Without warning, he pulled a knife from his belt and brought it up to her neck. Her eyes grew wide as he drew it across her throat. He pushed her over, blood rushing from the wound.
"Or maybe not," he said, dropping the knife. He turned and walked away, leaving her to bleed out, a sad smile on his lips.
