Hello! My name is Ruth, though I am commonly known as kayaksailor on DeviantArt. I have been a photographer for most of my life, adding up to more than a half century of taking photos! I think I've fainted. I made the official switch from film to digital in May 2007 (about the same time as I joined DA) after getting my first dSLR, a Nikon D100, at a yard sale. As I am rather fond of flower gardens and the accompanying insects, those are my primary subjects and will be my examples for this article. Finding your style in photographyLast week I did a poll on what subject you would be most interested to hear my opinion about. The majority wanted to know on "Finding your own style" (http://gilad.deviantart.com/journal/poll/264778/). Here are some pointers on that.
General thoughts
Photography has been here for a very long time. Every category in photography already been tried, most places have been photographed, portraits have been done, special techniques, weather... So what do we still find exiting and unique?
The answer is not in "what's being said", rather in "the way we say it". It's not the subject of the photo, rather the way we take it, show it, make our own definition of it. If you group 20 photographers in one scene, all having the same cameras, you will still get many different photos. In a day and age when critics are openly decrying violence in video games, one game in particular is finding great success without the element of fighting or any kind of violence. Harvest Moon first premiered in Japan in 1996, and has grown into a thriving franchise with more than 20 games in the Harvest Moon
All About Plz Accounts and How To Use ThemWhile DA gives us tons of awesome emotes to use, there is also a second, less known group of emotes here on DA that we can use as well.  These are created by individual people and made into "Plz Accounts".  A "Plz Account" is an account who's whole purpose of creation is simply to allow people the use of it's avatar. (see examples below)
One thing I get asked about quite a bit lately when I use emotes from a Plz account is "where do you get those emotes?" So I thought I would put a quick explanation as well as some plz account examples so they will be easy for other folks to find too!
