It had been a few days since Amber and Carver’s return to Kirkwall, and the eldest Hawke had immediately sent out letters to Queen Elissa and Nathaniel at Amaranthine. The only good thing was that Adia was now up and about, and that had cheered up the siblings immensely, though both Amber and Carver kept quite a bit of what they’d seen hidden from their sister, and had sworn Varric to secrecy. However, the rogue was bored, having been cooped up in the house for a few weeks, and was intent on showing her twin just how healed she was. She opened the door to her sister's room just before breakfast, catching the mage completely off guard. “Amber! I wanted to sho-” The excitement turned to confusion quickly. Amber stood there in her underclothes, robe in her hands. However, Adia noticed that she seemed... Bigger than usual. Her stomach actually stuck out a bit. The sisters looked at one another for a moment.

The place had taken on a slightly relaxed air since Meredith’s removal, though there were still whispers of those loyal to her taking issue with the whole ordeal. Chaos was everywhere. Shouts, screams, cries of death and pain all around her. Everything had gone wrong, so horribly wrong. The man beside her shot down by a crude arrow, another taken by a rusty sword. She fought on, slicing through the darkness that threatened to shallow her.
A light burned brightly behind her. A signal, one that was suppose to represent hope. But hope never came. Now it was just a burning brightness that illuminated the dark, making it worse. It showed the creatures within the darkness as well as the gruesome sight of blood and death.

Amber ran back as fast as she could, keeping a firm hold on Shadowfade. The cat simply allowed herself to be carried, staring at everything they passed. She made it back down to the clinic, noting that the lanterns were out, and the doors closed again. Pushing lightly on one, she found that it was open, and slipped inside, closing it behind her. A worn rope was hanging from the wall, and she saw a place on the door to tie it. Setting Shadowfade down, she quickly pulled the rope through the "lock" and tied it securely. However, when she turned around, she did not see the cat anywhere. Moonlight was coming in from the high windows on the wall, but a black cat in a dark room would be impossible to find. However, she quickly realized that the room was not as dark as she'd first thought, but a chill swept over her when she realized why: Anders was sitting at an old desk, writing something. Anders stirred, the morning sun upon his face warm. He shifted slightly, then froze as dawning consciousness brought the memory of what had happened last night, together with the realisation that his fingers were touching soft woven wool, not sand. His eyes flickered open and he blinked against the bright light.
Hawke was kneeling by the fire, stirring something cooking in the pot and talking to one of the adults they had rescued the previous day. As Anders glanced round, he could see Varric sitting further over from the fire, polishing the stock of Bianca whilst talking to the children who sat in front of him, listening avidly to whatever tall tale the dwarf was spinning. Of Fenris he could see no sign.
Anders sat up slowly, frowning slightly as he brushed sand out of his loose hair, then glanced behind him into the cave.
