I was born in Pretoria, South Africa and spent many hours in art galleries and museums with my father as a child. he always discussed the works and taught me to look for meaning in them. I was deeply influenced by the illustrations in Grim's Fairy Tales which my mother used to read to us. Also she stimulated my imagination by finding faces and figures in the clouds in bushes etc. Now I look back at the above as my earliest art training. I went to Johannesburg College of Art. While enrolling I stated that I wanted to study sculpture, I was told by the Vice Principal, that no one starts with sculpture, but I did and a lot of graphite drawing, but never studied painting, although I've always done some. I've lived in South Africa, Rhodesia, Namibia,California, Oregon, and New Mexico.
Moving to Uk with-out my sculpture tools I turned to water colours as a means of expression in London, but soon fell in love with Scotland's landscapes while driving through the Highlands to the Outer Hebrides where I'm currently getting back into sculpture, but still intend to continue painting.
I will be submitting some sculptures and installations Perhaps I'll just up load all the work which I have photos of (many were lost along the way. Most are my own photographs, which I could market. Mostly my intention is to show the broad spectrum of my work as I've tended to go through various styles and media. I use the camera as a notebook. I don't spend much time on the computer .I will try to place my work in consecutive order.
