I was tagged by Lyricanna to take part in this AWESOME community spirit event. I've never done anything like this before, and I'm delighted to take part! Here's what to do:

STEP ONE

Make a post to your DA journal. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a ______ icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("all I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV."). The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your DA or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO

Surf around your friends list (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use -- do it.

You need not spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf -- to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not -- it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Give, and you might receive. and you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My Wishlist:

1. ONE day, I'd love to be a CV here! My true love will always be Fanart, and I'm always scouting around to try and get people more exposure, as well as finding some amazing artists to support and follow

2. I hope to figure out what I want to do "when I grow up". Being in your late 20s and still trying to figure out what you're doing with your life is a bit brain-melting. Here's hoping I can kick myself into gear soon!

3. Please, send me suggestions for themes that I can do for my feature journals! I'm usually pretty random with it, but if anyone has some great ideas (or even some amazing art that they would just like to see get some more love); then send it my way!

4. Make your own feature journal and link me to it in a note, or suggest a DD! It's a really great feeling when somebody features your work; I don't even have many watchers, but I like to think that people are getting to see work they love that may not have noticed it otherwise. You can be guaranteed that you'll make at least one person's day by doing this; and sharing is what this community it all about.

5. Have some kind words to say to someone who really needs it. It's so easy in life to not notice when people are asking for help. Maybe it's a family member or friend, or even a complete stranger. Even a smile can help tremendously! Considering checking out the forums here forum.deviantart.com/community… and offer some support

6. I'm crossing all my fingers for my brothers to pass all their exams at Uni. I wish all the best for anyone else out there doing exams, too!

7. Erm...for me, I guess some points would always be welcome. Simply so I can give them away in group competitions, and for people who seem like they really need them (and I can also use them to pay it forward here and buy people prints from their wishlists!)

8. Speaking of prints, I would absolutely love any prints from DDs I have suggested! You can check the folder in my "DD Suggestions" favourites!

9. I would miraculously love to be able to use HTML. I. AM. USELESS with computer stuff. If anyone wants to teach me easy basics, or link me to the best tutorials they've ever seen; go ahead! I'd love to be able to one day make my own skins and stuff!

10. Donate to a charity. Ideally, we'd love to be able to donate to everyone; but that's just not possible; maybe something that is relevant to you? For instance, I've lost a few members of my family to cancer, so I always donate to the Irish Cancer Society on Daffodil day, or take part in sponsor walks/runs. Around these holidays, why not donate to charities catering for the homeless, or even children in hospital charities? At the end of the day, every little bit does help, and if we can give back just a small bit - especially many of us who live lucky, privileged lives - someone out there has been helped because of you.

Hmm, I really don't know many people here, but I'll tag: TheCreativeJenn badfish1111 lovelessdevotions Ginryuzaki OfOneSoul UJz lucife56 ManuSauci Jucabro brynhildr13 and of course; anyone I haven't tagged, please feel free to take part!

I'm a software engineer and I've always been real happy with the information from w3schools.

Here's their beginner tutorial: www.w3schools.com/html/html_in…

If you have any questions about HTML, CSS or JavaScript, feel free to drop me a note and I'll answer them if I can or I'll find you an answer.

Ah! Thank you so much! I'll absolutely note you if I run into any problems once I get started!

You have a pretty amazing list, dearest!! I hope most of them come true.

Thank you for tagging me, I am honored!

Thank you so much, Jenn! Haha, me too!

And you're welcome  I see you've already made yours, so I'm about to go take a peek at it!

Thanks for tagging me! :D Should really get around to doing this soon Bucktooth

9. Easiest way to learn the basics of HTML is to follow the intro tutorials on W3schools (www.w3schools.com/html/) and then follow it up with the CSS tutorial. You'll gain enough knowledge to write your own skins :D

You're welcome! Can't wait to see your list :)

Aaah! Thank you so much! That looks really, really useful! I love how it's easily broken down into sections. Thank you so much

I disagree. I personally think W3Schools is a terrible tool to learn from XD It's great as a reference, but not for learning (imo).

www.codecademy.com/ If you want to cover the basics, this is the best place to start ^_^

Thank you so much! I honestly haven't a clue at all, so anything that will ease me into the basics is really appreciated!

No problem! And thank you! I can't wait to see more wish lists, and hopefully contribute and make someone's day!

(2) Don't worry, I'm sure you'll figure it out eventually. Meanwhile, just do what you can and what you love to enjoy every moment. Goodluck! :)
(3) A feature about Turtles~! :la: Or hmm I don't know if you've already done it, the "If I Could DD" project by Community Relations team.
(9) Same here~ :dummy:

Thank you for the tag, much appreciated!

You're welcome, and thank you so much for your kind words! I really do hope to figure things out soon, but I guess I'm being a little impatient! haha

Ah, yes, I'm already sorting out all the deviations for the "If I could DD" project; I want to a feature for each category, if I can! It's actually kinda tough trying to select only a few! Do you mean normal turtles, or TMNT?! (either way, both are awesome, and it's a great idea) :la:

It's so weird how HTML actually fully boggles my mind. I mean, in Uni I had to learn and remember the most horrific chemical equations; I kinda felt that HTML should be easier! :P

This is such a wonderful idea!!  I would LOVE to participate, but I'll be going through the process of moving to a different apartment in just a few days, and then I'd have to set up all my important monthly living expenses... it's just a huge mess.  But thank you for thinking about me, that's incredibly sweet of you. :)
LornaKelleherArt's avatar
It's an awesome idea! It makes me really happy (and hopeful) to think that even one thing will come out of this entire event for everyone! Good luck with the move to your new apartment! Are you really excited about it? Obviously aside from the stresses of moving (believe me, I've moved half-way across the world and back; it sucked!) Well, you can still take part outside of dA! Maybe when you move into your new place, introduce yourself to your neighbours and give them a Christmas/Happy Holidays card. There's nothing quite like the goodwill spirit around now :)

I'd love to know what I want to do too XD  Let me know if you figure it out
LornaKelleherArt's avatar
Absolutely! I'm pretty sure when I figure it all out, everyone will know about it because I'll be so excited! Haha! Here's to all of us "growing up"

Mmh... :)
2. Just let it go and come on time! It was like yesterday I was 20 year old, and now going on my... 37... Damn it! At your age, people of 30 year old and more just looked like old craps to me...
Live, your life, your dreams, every moment!
