I love doodling and sketching skeletons. I dont understand why theres so few "living" Skeletons in horror and fantasy movies. got loads of Zombies and vampires, but not enough skeletons. I find them much more scarrier then Zombies. Age old remains rising from crypts and burrows coverd in the dust and dirt of the centuries. Clad in their old armours, gripping derelict weapons and shields. Cobwebs and dried up parchment like skin hangs of the crippled form, the signs of violent deaths still showing, crushed skulls, arrows, spears and swords embedded between the ribbs. Empty eye sockets stare out and mouths scream out wordless hate, despair loathing and anguish.

One thing i never see enough is Undeads crawling out of the graveyard. i love the part where a decomposed hand burts out of the earth followed by others like a horrific flower garden blooming.

Zombies might be [slightly] scarier, but skeletons are cooler.

I think corpse and skeletons act in a different way to provoke fear, usually: zombies are popular nowaday due the fact that, maybe, they represent the image of a "near" death, affecting ordinary people like us, which immediately destroy one's mental balance in our society obsessed by "perpetual" youth and fitness.

The skeletons is a more "uncanny" menace, because it represent the antiquity of death which change completely life, and even more, the human body is transformed in something more akin to an object, even different in form, a parody of the living human body.

Or maybe, it's just the time of the zombie trend: the age of gothic horror has expired and we are in post-modernism.

Nice picture.
I think Scary Movie 2 said t best. Nothing really scary about skeletons. They are just bones. Even if they are wearing armor they will be easy to kill. Even I many games they are most used as one of the weakest enemy types.

yeah theres nothing scarey about seeing the bones of humans animate. move around despite the fact they have no tendons and muscels, stareing out with hollow eye sockets. there be no virus or experimental explanation for risen skeletons.

Considering that their treat level is low, yeah they are not that scary. Espceially when one realizes that.
Ay least not human skeletons anyway. Give us some skeletons of animals that could easily do some damage before one could make it just fall apart then the threat level, and fear factor goes up.

I really like skeletons too, although zombies tend to hit a little closer to home because they still resemble human beings in the flesh.

The queen skeleton is the scarier of the two imo! There are a ton of kings and soldier skeletons up and about but I haven't seen a female one before! Makes one wonder what her story is. :O good job!

yeah i like the queen one the most to, it looks rather griefstruck and mournfull as she looks on her decayed hand, where once where beuty theres not only dusty bones and tattered skin.

Whean the king returned from the battle upon a shield his body broken, the queens heart broke with sorrow as she grabbed the dagger her husband had in his belt she plunged it to the hilt into her heart to join him in death rather then to live on anny other minute with out him.

Skeletons are harder to put onto the screen because they require CG and/or motion capture, which takes a lot more money to produce than simply painting an actor up. It's quite unfortunate.
