Description: It was supposed to be a relaxing weekend in San Francisco. Makishima, Tadokoro, and Toudou were supposed to connect again, put aside some past drama from their high school days, and do some racing like old times. A bike crash later Makishima would be fighting for his life and his friends would face some hard emotions.

Author’s Note: This is my second ever Yowapeda fic and my first one of this length and scope. I am still in the process of figuring out the characters and getting in tune with the plot so things might be a little off.

Chapter 13: The value of words

They didn’t know where the ladies who had been here before had gone, but it had been a while since they were last in the waiting room. Aside from being asked to step outside for a few minutes at a time, Tadokoro and Toudou had been right beside Makishima for the better part of three hours.
Now they were back out here and alone. Toudou was pacing the floor; he reminded Tadokoro of old sitcoms where an expectant father would be pacing frantically in a waiting room while his wife was in the delivery room. He was acting almost as comically flustered too, though Tadokoro really couldn’t blame him. He was nervous too, but tried to distract himself.
