Alternate History: Armor on Byzantine tracks. Artillery armored tractors

Both artillery armored tractors "Arsenal" began to produce in 1915-16. Moreover, in search of the most optimal place in the battle formations for such, not too numerous and rather expensive equipment, a whole theory of combat tactics for the use of armored tractors was created.

Its essence was as follows. The division of armored tractors of the "first line" advanced to the battlefield, having a formation in the form of three "wedges" - the squad leader's vehicle in front and two slave armored tractors slightly behind on the flanks of the commander. Three such wedges were also not in a row, but again, the middle one was moved forward slightly. In total, thus, 9 armored tractors of the "first line" with powerful infantry support participated in the attack.

The "second line" consisted of six artillery armored tractors of the battlefield "Centaur-1", which in pairs supported each wedge with fire. The second wave of infantry lines moved directly behind them.

Finally, 4 more heavy artillery armored tractors with 115-mm howitzers took part in the battle, firing over the heads of the attackers from the initial attack positions and coordinating it on orders from the armored tractors of the first line, or the commanders of the infantry accompanying the armored tractors. Also, on their orders, they moved forward, following the armored tractors and infantry, in order to always be at hand - fortunately, replacing heavy guns with a light howitzer had such a positive aspect as a significantly larger transportable ammunition. These self-propelled guns were accompanied by infantry reserves.

Of no small importance was the ability to roll out the howitzer to the ground at any time - if either the armored tractor or the gun malfunctioned, the army no longer lost two combat units at once.

Thus, the structure of armored tractor divisions was formed by itself. In total, the division had 10 (one command - also a reserve) "first line" armored tractors, 6 artillery armored tractors of the battlefield with 75-mm guns and 4 howitzer armored tractors of fire support.

Also, the armored tractor division included 3 ordinary standard tractors MML-9, used both as transport vehicles and as tow trucks.

Although in total it turned out that the armored tractor division had 10 armored tractors "tanks" and 10 armored tractors SAU, "Arsenal" produced twice as many "tanks" - since they went ahead and suffered significantly greater losses, which needed to be replenished in a timely manner.
