If these ruins could tell the story of the former owners...
Great picture!

It does make me wonder why. Why it was abandoned. Perhaps not so long ago either...

On Skye alone (and definitely this area) between the 1840s -1880's there were roughly 40,000 people cleared to make way for sheep. Some moved abroad to all corners of the world, some were moved from rich fertile ground, to much poorer ground, hence why the highland clearances were so bitter.

Thanks for this Dan, how interesting !
In the far north west of Scotland I passed by a similar scene and then met the man who owned the barn without a roof. It had only been damaged in a massive storm a few years earlier, a storm which ruined his business..which was why it never got repaired. But it looked like it had been a ruin for generations. :(

No worries! Thats a shame :( And yeah I guess you never know! There are many ruins around this area from the highland clearances, even a few whole villages, but I guess it would take someone local or an archaeologist to be completely sure!

Whenever I see shots like this I always end up wondering how the place looked when it used to be an actual 'Home', what family lived here? Did their children play down by the water near where their father's fishing boat was tied? Was there a garden across from those now ruined windows?...

Mesmerizing. I look at such things and wonder at the story behind it...who lived there, how many generations, how long ago, how they lived, what they thought...etc. Sigh...I miss the UK SO much! I had done a series of concerts there a few times, strictly in medieval era churches and villages. Ah, how your picture takes me back! Lovely work! :)
