Losing hope by LordLJCornellPhotos Losing hope by LordLJCornellPhotos
You all know how I love to photograph this boat which is stranded on the shore. It is a sad but beautiful sight to me. I have become very attached to this boat. To me it has become a part of the landscape there.

This boat was left stranded on the shore during a bad storm some time ago. The tide has never been high enough since to re-float the boat so it remains stuck on land rotting away. It is near Corpach, across the water from Fort William in the Scottish Highlands.
The boat is called the MV Dayspring and she foundered on Dec 8th 2011.

Here is some of her history

It's a beautiful picture. Love looking at old boats, cars and abandoned houses. They have so much to tell.
Again, very sad but nice.

I know how that works. When I lived in another town I became very attached to an abandoned house across the street from my apt building. My cat and I would walk there almost every night. I always wondered what the house looked like on the inside but never found out. The town seemed to be using it for storage, which I thought was a shame. I looked into the history of the area and found it had (probably) been the caretakers house for the estate of the Stanley family (of Stanley Tools fame). The old Stanley mansion had been in the woods behind the apt complex. I went hiking up there once and found what was left of it. The family had left it to the town and vandals burned it down. The town never saw fit to rebuild, which was a shame considering how important the family was to the town.
So I know how you feel. about the boat.

It's interesting how emotions can attach a greater weight or importance to something for some people when other people don't get it at all.
Im very fond of this boat now after my many visits :)
thank you :)

You are very welcome.
Everyone looks at things differently. That can be good or bad. Someone can look at an open field and say "What a beautiful place. Lets build a subdivision on it!' and someone else will say "What a beautiful place. Why would anyone want to destroy it and build on it?".
People are funny that way.

Lovely (but sad) photo. The pictures don't fully convey the scale of her; it would take a staggering investment to get her back to sea. Please keep documenting this vessel. Thank you for sharing her story and your work.
