Lovely view.

Well, I guess they originally went there to be alone.

Such interesting clouds! I love how they shape similarly to the curved beach. Shall someone say again that you shouldn't shoot in daylight hours!

Thank you eegariM. Well, I do shoot in daylight hours as I am always limited for time. It helps if you have a great sky.

It's certainly similar for me. I'm honestly not fond of the whole golden hour thing. The light makes for beautiful pictures and that can be fantastic, sure, but it also distracts from the landscape. If I see pictures in daylight I always know that they look closer to what I would see when I'm there than any sunset/sunrise shot.
I'm also a huge cloud fan so I take dramatic clouds over a decent sunset any day. :)

If I was earning a living from my photography I would spend more time out and about in the golden hour but most times on my trips I go away for a week and I just shoot as much as I can in that week. I don't have the luxury of waiting all the time or going back the next day for better light.
That is why I do shoot through the day unless it is simply too bright in the middle of the day. Then I will have a long lunch somewhere ;) or just enjoy being out.

Using photography as a means to earn a living is an entirely different story for sure. It means you have to spend more time in the same place to get the "right" shot. That means you have less time to see different places. That's a sacrifice I wouldn't want to make and one of the reason I don't even consider photography as a potential source of income.
Sometimes I go out for photography as the main reason but that's rare. Most of the time when I go out I just shoot what's there at the time: to renew my memories later, to show the sights to friends and people here on DA. So it's really more for documentary reasons that anything else. Going around and experiencing the outdoors is definitely the main "objective". Photography just comes alongside because it's fun and serves a purpose for later on. That's why I shoot even at miserable daylight conditions. Even if the shot turns out to be bad, it's enough to renew my memories and that's good enough for me.

Another beauty, Lawrence
You know what strikes me about your landscapes besides being wonderful photographs? The lack of people in the shots. It amazes me that these locations are so gorgeous but that no one but a few seem to know that they exist. No wonder why you enjoy these spots so much...they're your own private paradise I should think.

Thank you Rich.
I seek out remoteness and beauty.
i see plenty of people all year round and I can't wait to get away :)
I do occasionally include a person for scale but basically I'm happy
to find myself alone in a beautiful place :)
