Amazing frescos by LordLJCornellPhotos Amazing frescos by LordLJCornellPhotos
A wonderful room in a house in Pompeii. The original fresco still looks bright where it is hanging on. I loved looking at these paintings. This is how to decorate a house. The town was buried in AD79 after Vesuvius erupted. This makes these images nearly 2,000 years old.

I've always had an interest in Pompeii. I love seeing all the beautiful things they've been uncovering over the years. It's like stepping back in time.

There is still a lot to be uncovered. I think they still have about 33% of the town they haven't touched yet.

What did they use that it has not faded away? Fantastic.

It didn't fade away because it was buried under volcanic ash and rock for over two thousand years.

i wonder what the original paint thought about his work.. i wonder if he ever thought it would last thousands of years after he was gone

Probably not. It's amazing to think he might just have done it as a job of work :)

It's quite emotional to be so close to real Roman paintings :)

The vulcano brought destruction upon Pompeii, but also preserved some of it for us to see..

Exactly. If it wasn't for the volcano we wouldn't have all these treasures :)
