Under somber sky

we find our own light

picking up fragments of time

reminding of what has gone by

I tire of these cloudless skies

some refuse to even look up

never truly knowing what

it is like to be alive

always take but never give

under somber sky we live

heat drives our weighted souls

until orange crimson paints the earth

and thunder screams for miles

reminding us each moment

who is truly in control

awaiting the clouds to boil once more

we thrash through the rapids of life
