Richard Rand lived a life of luxury as a child, but after his father’s death due to a plane crash in Himalayas, he became an orphan and lost his fortune. He grew up in the slums of Missouri and lived the life of a thief. When he attempted to rob an old man, his life changed, because the old man was Sensei Stick (O'sensei+Stick), a martial-arts expert. Sensei Stick fought off young Richard and noticed Richards hidden talent in martial-arts, so he took the boy under his wing in his dojo, training Richard to perfect the Martial-Arts. When Sensei Stick asked about where Richard’s parents were, Sensei Stick was shocked to hear Richard was the son of Dragon Fist. Sensei Stick informed Richard why his father died in the plane crash, because he tried to return to the mystical city of Kun'Bat, his homeland. A day later Sensei Stick invited Richard to come with him and his other students to Kun'Bat, explaining it was Richards destiny to be the next Dragon Fist. When they finally arrived, Richard was extensivly trained by the monks of Kun'Bat for one purpose; to defeat the evil dragon Shao Lao. Fastforward several years later and the combat-ready Richard defeated the mighty dragon, by ripping out his weak spot: his tooth. Richard wore the tooth as a necklace and a dragon tattoo appeared on his chest, turning him into Dragon Fist the protector of Kun'Bat.
Both characters belong to Marvel and DC respectively.
