Description
Six-Spotted Tiger Beetle (Cicindela sexguttata), A predatory beetle that has the ability to pounce on it's prey using their impressive looking white mandibles to kill them. This was my favorite photo this year (2011). I've never seen this species up close before and it was a real treat when I peeled back the bark of a log in the early evening to find it.
