Steve the Gull quickly worked out the best way to catch fish was to train a human to do it for himů.

Pencil sketch for fun. Needs a background, and possibly some fish. Steve is keen on fish.

I'm keen on something also but it just smells like fish.  Seriously, I like to think Frazetta would have liked this.

Thanks Susann... lovely of you to say. Not sure how 'serious' anything about a person calling himself 'Loopydave' could be though ;)

This is mesmerizing. I hear music when I see it. And, being a girl myself, I don't think you could've been any more realistic on...well, everything.

This is kind of random, but I've been sifting through the other comments for a while now and I can't stop laughing! You almost always have something witty to say. I'm actually a little surprised that you even took the time to respond, though it's a nice change. :D

And it's no biggie. I don't comment too often but every once in a while I'll find something that I really like. :)

i could have written a much larger comment on the shading and
how you have great skill and getting such precise details with hardly any additional strokes and
the gesture, form, antomy motion convey the whole image and story behind your work.
Plus i stumbled onto your work because i was looking for so inspiration and i found it,
Plus this reminds me of Frank Frazetta,
having said that i found another work that was a farewell to frank Frazetta, so all those things in mind and i am  a simple wowa huge frank frazetta fan, who is now learning more about the masters like repin, frank frazetta, caravaggio,

so i just gave

How do you get the shading so soft? Is it only with parallel lines?
Reply
:iconloopydave:
Loopydave Featured By Owner Jan 12, 2015  Professional
Mostly its a 3H (very hard) pencil where I slowly build up the tones... its time consuming but gives a lovely smooth shade.
