Phantom of the Opera

Monster Mash Month pic 3. Who likes the Opera? This guy, that’s who! Lon Chaney in the  original 1925 Phantom of the Opera… ironically a silent movie about singing.

Lovin' the Basil Gogo's color schemes for these, perfect for the season!

Thanks... it did seem appropriate! Love Basils art.

Excellent! And only a brilliant fellow such as yourself would think to cross Phantom of the Opera with Fifth Element! 🤣

Being Loopy has its benefits I guess :D

was half expecting Jón Stephenson von Tetzchner

Loopydave's avatar

Is he like the Spanish Inquisition? Because nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, and surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four* *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.

Give him a banjo and it could be "Phantom of the Grand Ole Opry".

It's really Andrew Lloyd Webber after the three hundredth rehearsal and re-arrangement... and then watching the Cats movie once.

Loopydave's avatar

Haha! That sounds about right... I can't make myself watch the Cats movie, possibly now because it will do weird things to my collection and fill my mouth with Llama teeth.

Is that Luc Besson in the foreground?

(asking for a friend)

Loopydave's avatar

Haha! Luc Besson assures me it isn't but I do have my doubts ;)

By rights, the Diva ought to have sung like Mick Jagger, because the Stones were inside her.

Loopydave's avatar

Boom tish!

Haha... this Phantom of the Opera movie was filmed in 1925, so that tracks for about the right time line/age for Mick Jaggar ;)

Great likeness of Chaney! Not sure why, but it reminds me of the old magazine, Famous Monsters of Filmland.

Loopydave's avatar

Thanks! And probably because it would have featured the same production photo I used as reference for my caricature and also I think I've used the same font as one of those monster magazines too.

The most book-accurate Erik we've ever had.

Its the teeth, isn't it? ;)

You nailed the eyes! Really captured his essence.

Loopydave's avatar

Nobody wants nails in the eyes... or their essence stolen ;)

but I thank you my friend!

"ironically a silent movie about singing."

What a point! Yeah... damn!

Could be worse; she could be awful!! :)

Great picture as always :)
