"Squeak" - that's easily the most nonthreatening thing you'd want a Grim Reaper to say to you (as long as you don't speak Rat, I guess) :D

Yeah - hey, didja know that Michelle Dockery, who played Susan Sto Helit in "Terry Pratchett's Hogfather," also did the voice for Death of Rats in that one?

No I did not... thanks for that cool bit of trivia. I love that movie and she is great as Susan in it. And clearly the death of rats too :D

No problem - yeah, she was great. They don't go out and give her direct credit as Death of Rats, but the voice is credited to "Dorckey Hellmice" (an anagram of her name) ;)

Birdie looks real impressed to have Reaper Rat on his back, then again it might just simply be a case of him being a NY Giants fan.

Rats...  They have done so much for us from medicine, to make up, to deodorant...... they test it to make sure its safe before we use it..... and the best we can do to show our gratitude is to feed them to snakes... Nice Art.... poor subject....

The Death of Rats isn't a character that kills rats, but one that frees them for the afterlife once they have already died.

LD: HELLO! .... NICELY done above ....

I have a TRUE story that relates to 'RATS' ....

When I was about 16, I visited my UNCLE JOE in Owatonna,
Minnesota .... My mother was born in that city and her family
was there so I often went BACK from time to time ....

My UNCLE JOE liked to have a BUDWEISER or TWO before his WEEKEND
'barbecue' dinner came next ....

He pontificated about ALL kinds of things and was a VERY INTELLIGENT man ....

One time, he mused about STUDIES scientists were doing on RATS to test out
for new DRUGS, HEALTH issues, causes, etc ....

He mentioned that they tested RATS and did NOT test HUMANS .... So he came to
the conclusion that such tests would probably NOT work well FOR HUMANS later on down
the line/road ....

One night, after 3-4 BUDWEISERS, he REALLY got going about such RAT testings ....

At the END, HIGHLY EXASPERATED at such 'tests' NOT 'working' well FOR HUMANS
while testing ON "RATS", UNCLE JOE declared LOUDLY:

"What WE NEED is a STRONGER 'strain' of RATS!" ....

SMILES ....

My BEST to YOU and YOURS .... bls35mm/brian

Gorgeous.  For two characters who have minor roles, their presence is critical in a number of stories.

The Death of Rats nibbled a bit of the pork pie because when you are the personification of the death of small rodents you have to behave in certain ways. He also piddled on one of the turnips for the same reason, although only metaphorically, because when you are a small skeleton in a black robe there are also some things you can technically cannot do.

–Hogfather

Most intelligent bird in the temperate latitudes an’ I gets the cold shoulder just because I can’t hang upside down and go twit, twit. Look at robins, now. Stroppy little evil buggers, fight like demons, but all they got to do is go bob-bob-bobbing along and they can’t move for breadcrumbs.

–Quoth, Hogfather
